The insider, part two.
Bobby Knight is one of my favorites. He doesn’t deserve to be ranked as the #2 worst coach.
I’m a little surprised Calipari and Tarkanian did not make the list.
One thing is for sure. Huggins definitely belongs on that list.
Huggins = Slime.
Tubby Smith. I know that most consider him an excellent coach, but Kentucky has stunk under his reign. Yes, he won a title with Pitino’s players, but since then Kentucky’s program has stagnated. He doesn’t recruit well, his offense is boring as hell and he fails to win the big one. Yeah, he’ll win some SEC championships and a couple of NCAA games, but I judge a coach on how the program has progressed since his arrival. With Tubby, it’s gone south.
This is a confusing list. These are some of the best coaches of all time.
Knight
Huggins
=good coaches
I think it was meant as a list of head coaches whose behavior embarrassed the University.
Definitely a behavioral list viewpoint. Bobby Knight’s throat-grabbing episode with Neil Reed was all I needed to see to know that my opinion of him prior to that was pretty much right on. The head-butting incident and his smack to his own kid during a timeout were just the initial signs. He would be numero uno on the list if it wasn’t for Dave Bliss. If anybody ever surpasses him on the list it will be a sad day for sports, and college basketball.
For those that do not remember the Knight-Reed ordeal, here’s CNN/SI’s recap with vid clips:

He’s the type of man you read about in the bible. A man’s man. The kid should have done as told. Knight doesn’t take no nonsense.
