Yea I think that was his name because a couple of his friends from HS go here and was talking about it

A buddy of mine is an assistant basketball coach for the Albemarle High School men’s basketball team. He informed me that Charlotte had 3 football recruiters at their Tuesday game against West Montgomery talking to the HS football coaches. He wasn’t sure if they talked to any players (several pay both sports) or who they were looking at, but thought he might be able to find out. He did mention that they were making in roads and discussing invitations to the Charlotte Football Camp.

Albemarle has a pretty good history in the 1A side of things… Produced TA McLendon (NC State) and 5 state championships in the past 10 years.

Ask your buddy if he remembers Coach Jack Gaster. Coach Gaster won 3 straight state championships there. Your info is encouraging news!

Gaster was their coach when I was at the cross county rival North Stanly. That was back when we had some pretty good teams, but we could never beat him. His last few years there jump started Albemarle’s string of state championships and success.

Updated

Casey Perry - DL, Hillside HS - 3 STAR - 6’3" 295

Love that! Welcome Casey!

Don’t know if I’m missing this posted somewhere else or not, but according to Rivals Jaquil Capel (Ath/WR from Gilead, NC) is considering Charlotte. He made a soft verbal to App in December but said that he was still considering other schools. Visited App and Charlotte the past month.

Thanks for the update HP. According to my contact, the AHS asst. coach, Capel does play Bball for West Montgomery and was at the game that I mentioned earlier. Again, he could not confirm whether or not the Charlotte recruiters talked to him or any other players.

Most start up programs never come close to landing three star prospects. Lambert and company have really impressed me with their recruiting. I cannot wait til 2013!
