He is much faster than you would think. you can watch the replay on C-USA TV if you have it. He runs out there twice in the 9th inning. Once to argue the foul/ fair ball, and then he chases the ump after the game.
The reason I heard for starting the game when they did, is that they had a “salute to service” pre-game celebration for that day and didn’t want to move it up any earlier. I’m assumming the league will have to address this at some point.
And yes, as we have seen all season, the C-USA umps are incompetent. I’m just not sure how you can overturn a fair/foul call without replay, when only the home plate umpire could see if it was fair/foul. I watched the grainy replay from C-USA TV and I can’t tell.
Sounds like the umps were total incompetents. You don’t discuss a “fair or foul” call for five minutes. You also don’t call the game if the inning isn’t over if that what was agreed upon beforehand. Good freakin’ luck to us to get good umpiring the weekend.
That would describe the majority of CUSA umpires that I have seen in the last few years. The umpiring at most of our games is so bad its a joke.
I get not wanting to move festivities, but there are not festivities without the game. A 9 inning baseball game is not a short affair. If FAU tried to move the game up, and Rice declined, I personally think they are more than justified in playing reindeer games until 4:15 hit. If you, as the host school, provide adequate time, it doesn’t matter what the drop dead time is. We don’t know their pitching situation. If I’m in first place, and I know my bullpen is gassed, I might do the same thing. Puts a big target on your back though, and you get a rep for being bush league.
You know what they call bush league conference champs?
Zach Jarrett and TJ Nichting will be in Hickory this weekend for a series against the Crawdads. Zach is currently tearing it up, hit a walk-off HR yesterday (scoring TJ), and leading the league in HRs.
Unbelieveable game yesterday!! We had done absolutely nothing offensively until we had 2 outs in the 9th inning. Then we just up and score 6!! Down to our final strike a few times, we battled back . Just likie WEdnesday night’s game. We kept battling back and founda way to win with our backs up against the wall.
Overall a very nice series win on the road at Rice. Starting pitching was really good, bullpen was good overall, but had a bad inning in game 1. Offense was pretty good in game 1, but sputtered on Saturday and Sunday. Cam alive when it mattered though. Reece may be in line for C-USA Hitter of the Week again this week.
2 straight home sereies’ with WKU and Marshall at the Hayes coming up the next 2 weekends. We are currenty tied for 5th and sit a half game out of 4th. There are only 1.5 game separating 4th from 8th in the league so we have to protect our home turf the next 2 weeks.
