Bats finally got going. Nice work from Brooks and Patten on the mound. Made the semis for the second straight season. Beating USM once is a tall order. They are the best team in the league and it’s not even close.
I hope some pro scouts noticed today that Patten can pitch extended relief. Five innings and 80 some pitches and no runs.

What does our pitching situation look like for the game against USM? Do we have any of our top pitchers available or are we digging deep into the bullpen at this stage of the tournament?
We are actually in pretty decent shape. We will likely throw Cooner, who has been our Sunday starter all year. He’s had some ups and downs, but he’s been in the fire before. We also have one of our most reliable relievers in Horkey who hasn’t thrown yet this week. Colby Bruce hasn’t thrown yet, and he’s been a reliever and started a few mid-week games. After that we start piecing otgether with bullpen guys. I think if we advanced to tomorrow, Gooding could throw some. He didn’t throw much on Thursday.

Nice to see the bats wake up and Patten was outstanding. Really is a shame the conference doesn’t have a deal with ESPN to broadcast more games online.

Southern Miss strands 14 runners. This doesn’t make up for their walk off HR last year, but it feels good to give it to them at this “neutral” site.
It’s going to be interesting if the rains come early tomorrow. There would then be three teams with one loss, assuming that tonight’s final game is completed.
Fitting that we won anyway after we were robbed of a run at the plate in the 2nd inning.
