2021 MBB Recruiting šŸ€

I sure don’t want to jinx us, but so far :crossed_fingers: we have been winning the Portal game in both men’s and women’s basketball.

And I bet those 1-2 yr guys will be better players day 1 than most of the freshman and sophomores that are recruited from high school.

I want the best team possible. I could care less if we went the somewhat Kentucky route of one and done. I couldn’t imagine going into next season with last years roster and some freshman coming in.

This may have been posted but didn’t see it. 1 year remaining…

Clyde Trap to Charlotte

Yup, about 15-20 posts above

The better we are, the better the recruits we can get, so these short-term players can hopefully give us faster cycle time.

Yeah I can’t come in here and complain in one thread about how Ron’s 5 year plan is taking too long and then in the next thread bitch about taking short term transfers. That’s logically inconsistent. Like Nugget said - hopefully we can use a few of these guys to augment our 4 year players and jump start the program.

I rushed in here to post the Trapp transfer last week. Those are the types of guys we should be adding. Excited about that one. He very clearly brings a good deal more athleticism to our roster.

Gotta try something. This past season just wasn’t cutting it.

On that note, I’d like to add an at least somewhat proven big man. Another Bamba would work. Or an Uchebo.

How about this guy?

I saw that on the other board. It would be a great get but I imagine just having ā€œGONZAGAā€ big next to his name will make him in high demand.

I agree, but he is at GONZAGA! Why leave unless he wants to move down a notch and be the man. Come be our man Ballo!

I agree but I wouldn’t be suprised if a top level high major offers him PT to transfer. I hope I’m wrong.

Ballo’s background sounds similar to Khalifa’s. Wonder if they crossed paths. Might at least help to have been a landing spot for international players (though Rissetto did just transfer out).

For now, Sanchez is doing some things right in the offseason. He’s filling holes with transfers and holding on to key players (so far). I’d prefer to get freshmen in who have talent to grow in the system, but Sanchez has to think he’s under some pressure to start winning and can’t wait for a build that slow after this past year went so poorly.

At what point can we start to feel better about transfers out? I’ll be at least a little hopeful for next year if Young and Williams both stick around, and also if Garcia is here. I agree with above that a transfer big would help, though I think Garcia will play more minutes at center (as a point person in the offense). With improvement, Garcia could be a key player in opening up the offense.

We did add berry, who is a frosh, fwiw.

I’m expecting big things from Garcia. I was very impressed with his passing immediately after getting off the bench. And he seems to have a good shooting stroke that should improve. I think he’s got a lot of talent and skill. I expect him to be a big part of our plans going forward. I’ll be shocked and extremely disappointed if that doesn’t happen.

Supica is not returning. I think it was Sweirad that mentioned it during post game of the last game.

Yes. Hawthorne is right. Sweirad did confirm that.
