28-6. Incredible
Halftime.
We have mid major talent (athleticism, size, speed, skill).
And we canโt shoot.
If we didnโt go on a little 6-0 run when they started getting lazy, this would be even worse.
We have no chance against a team like this.
This is exactly what Jay Bilas dreamed of. Huge talent gap between SEC and all of us โD2โ schools. That arrogant asshole actually said that everyone else should reclassify as D2.
I hate what college sports have become. When I think of what we could have put on the floor this seasonโฆ
UGA was picked #12 in the SEC preseason poll with no Dawgs named all conference, although Newell did receive some votes for POY.
See if the Dawgs can continue this momentum tonight, playing #1 Texas.
Big sports day in Georgia, Tech hosting Notre Dame today at Mercedes.
Please, for the love of God, donโt overreact to an exhibition game with a bunch of new players getting to know each other.
I agree no one should overreact. It was disappointing, but there is a lot of coaching ahead.
Out hustled and out muscled!
Georgia is a talented team and our defense and rebounding is still bad.
Nik and Zay were bad and Bras looks old and slow
Thomas definately a bright spotโฆstep up from LuโCye.
I spent the 2nd half looking for potential ballers on our roster. Thomas was pretty good, and maybe we can make something out of one of the big white guys. Bradford (?) - I have no idea who is or where he came from, but he was pretty steady. Roster says he is a true freshman. He may have some long term potential showing that much poise in this game. I donโt think Kylan Blackmon (Coastal Carolina transfer) played today. Anyone know why?
To sum it up: We just donโt have many ballers. Looks like a team full of complimentary players plus a couple of young guys who will need to learn. Didnโt see any clutch guys, at least not yet.
On the plus side, I have enough faith in Fearne that he can coach them up to at least .500 against our schedule this season. Not expecting much more than that.
Also - UGa has some damn good athletes. Newell looks the part of an NBA player. They will lose SEC games because they donโt shoot well enough when they donโt have that much of an athleticism advantage like they had today. And their uniforms are ugly.
clt says the new restroom signage is an improvement
More boring than a soccer scoreless draw (Just kidding)
It wasnโt much fun.
My son said when we left the game he loved how last year he never felt like we were out of any game, no matter the score. He misses that feeling.
Said he knew right away we were gonna lose today.
We have one starter from last year, Graves, and a lot to figure out. Thought we played tougher in second half.
Biggest gap for us is we donโt appear to have a dog on the roster. As much as Patterson made me cringe forcing shots, he wanted the ball almost demanded it. I donโt see that guy right now. Rosado was a bright spot. He has some dog in him but not sure he can create on his own.
Lot of work to do but also a lot of tape for the coaches to assess. Donโt think Reiber should start. I love Folkes but he has not improved his handle in the offseason.
I think we will see vast improvement next few games. May be why our schedule is light is the realization that we have to find out who can/will play.
Read a lot about Demary while he was being recruited. Always wondered why we didnโt offer since the Raleigh native was prepping right up the road at Combine Academy. Would have certainly been a long shot but he was offered by ECU and took an official visit to VCU. Actually committed to USC before flipping to UGA.
Yep. Thatโs what I was looking for in the 2nd half. We did play a little better overall.
Reiber shouldnโt start but he is stronger than last year.
Nik kept getting funneled into a half court sideline trap and couldnโt find his way out of it. He has to work on that.
Can anyone on this team hit 38% plus from 3 shooting in any volume?
All about the bag and nothing but the bag.
