I didnāt watch the game but why did Thomas only play 3 minutes? Is he in the doghouse now? I wanted him to return next year. I hope this isnāt a sign that he wonāt.

In the world of one year rentals I wouldnāt be so harsh. The way college basketball works in this landscape unless youāre one of 11 or 12 programs you can go from the top of your conference to the bottom from one season to the next. Fearne just missed on his portal targets this year, but maybe next heāll get the pieces he needs to bring you guys back up to the top half of the league.
Just curious, which portal targets did Fearne miss on?
As an ECU fan Iām not familiar with how the portal recruiting period went for you guys in the offseason. What I will say is your team is currently 10-19 which is either a reflection of poor coaching ability, portal misses/misidentified talent, or both. I think Fearne is a good coach as evidenced by what he did last year with a roster Sanchez had massively underachieved with. Couple that with his accomplishments in the Australian pro league would make it a stretch to question coaching ability. That would lead me to believe he either hit on his first targets in the portal and they didnāt pan out, or he had to settle for second and third options in the portal to fill the void.
Thanks! One would think that if Fearne had known beforehand about all the injuries and illness that would beset his 2024 TP selections he would have chosen differently as concerns some of those players. But to his credit, heās never made any excuses about that. It is what it is.

Id say he massively underachieved with a starting lineup of igor, dj, graves, and lucye. 19 wins, with a weak schedule with that team is definitely underachieving

We certainly underachieved in last yearās tournament. Obviously Iām still very butt hurt by the terrible game vs temple after ending up third in the conference and getting a double bye only to look like we were taking a dive so players could get on with their transfers. 
Well we are set up to get the Tourney W this year, after UTSA handled Rice last night easily.
Looks like we play Rice in the play in game at the remote site. Really good chance at a tourney W!
But point taken in comments above, Fearne is going to have to step up his talent evaluation game in this years off season, because we are goin need to bring in as many as 4 who can start in this league!

Didnāt post the league standings today since North Texas and Wichita State are playing later tonight to get to 16 AAC games completed like everyone else did over the weekend.
Just trying to have a discussion with an in state conference member about the sport. I grew up watching and playing the sport, so our lack of basketball success doesnāt mean I know less about the sport than those of you whoāve witnessed Charlotteās better days.
I expect some flak but Iām not trolling in any way at all. My original post was meant to dispel the notion that everything Lutz had built has been tossed down the drain. Itās extremely difficult to sustain program momentum from one year to the next at our level in the current landscape. FAU went to the final four but theyāre back to being middle of the pack. Oregon state made the elite 8 a few years ago and their NIL war chest is far superior to either of our schools and we havenāt heard from them since.
Portal era is frustrating but the 8 or 9 new players you guys bring in next year very well could put you back on top.

I never thought I would enjoy watching our basketball team racing to a 20 loss season. 20 used to be the bar, but that was 20 wins, even if Mike Hill had to beat the Discount Tire team and the local YMCA team to get to 20 wins.
Itās the endless rah rah and excuses here for everything terrible about Mike Hillās program that truly makes the race to 20 losses so damn entertaining.
