2024-25 49er MBB Game #3 vs Richmond 11/13 7PM ESPN+

Ugly win, but we are going to have those. We beat a bad team and Graves carried us like a vet should.

We have nothing in the paint on D. Rosado couldnt keep any of their goofy bigs away from the rim. Got backed down and smoked by some pretty bad Y level players. Is Nika an answer in the post?

I don’t think Oden is going to play for us this year.

Probably enough of the very negative stuff. I did see some things I liked too.

First, the FT shooting was excellent. As we all noticed, it was the difference.

I liked Blackmon’s D, and then he finally showed up on offense late. For a guy who lost 18 lbs from being sick, he is still pretty powerfully built. If he gets that weight back he might kinda remind me of slightly smaller Demario Mayfield.

Folkes harassed their top scorer (the PG with the headband) especially late in the first half, which threw their already bad offense even further off.

Rolf had an up and down game but I still like what I see from him. He has a very good chance to become our Igor replacement.

I think Jaeshon is solid too, though this wasn’t a great game for him offensively.

We need Braswell on the court though. Need his offense, his blocks, and his finishing as well as his leadership. No more foul trouble please Bobby Buckets.

Fearne’s approach is no bullshit, no gimmicks. I think it’s kinda refreshing. As long as we can find a way to get and retain some talent, we should be okay. But I think this team needs some work before we can beat anyone good, as Utah State showed us.

You know Igor got $500k plus to play at TN.
That is a lot of money for a 20+ year old.

Where do these numbers come from?

Good question, especially with much having been written about international student athletes not being able to cash in on NIL like their American teammates due to immigration law restrictions. Zach Edey spoke at length during the 2024 NCAAT about being unable to maximize NIL. Of course, he’s laughing all the way to the bank now that he’s in the NBA!

You know that doesn’t change the fact that I don’t give a good crap about how he does there. BTW, that is a lot of money for most of us, not just the 20 year old crowd, so good for him

I’ll try to do better and just ignore posts about mercenary players.

They unfortunately are all mercenaries at tbis point.

On a brighter note, Patterson was 3-14 total and 1-7 on 3’s last night. If he keeps that up he will sit for a while. North Texas beat Minnesota 54-51.

They looked to be rebuilding. Lots of respect for Coach Mooney and that program.

We are super banged up and mostly dominated. Very pleased with that effort. 8 man total rotation, but only 5 got big minutes. I think that’s a statement for how injured we are. Hopefully we can keep it going in a positive direction. I’m really starting to buy what fearne is selling.

We are undefeated with Ninercentral Jr. in Halton!

People have been throwing around numbers on many of our players for a couple years now and not one single time have I ever seen anyone show a source. Not one single time.

Coach mentioned during ESPN 730 post-game with Matt and Trevor that PT for those available was directly tied to effort exhibited in practices between Utah State and Richmond games.

Yeah, Fearne has stated that this is pro sports now, and he is going to run it like a pro franchise (which he knows how to do). The guys that produce will play, and that includes all week during practice. Some of those DNPs were NOT injury related, and he didn’t shy away from saying so in post game comments.
