Blazers led 75-70 with 2:04 to go before allowing Pirates (6-6) to finish on 12-0 run. Loss drops AK & Co. (8-3) into third a half game behind second place North Texas (9-3).
What a joke of a conference.
I think itโs only a matter of time til they move the tournament back to home arenas of the best attendance programs.
Conference tournaments have really lost a lot of appeal in the last 20 or so years. Used to be such a big deal. Now they are pretty much viewed like non CFP bowl games by P4 teams. Just donโt get hurt.
The fans donโt feel like going. Would rather just watch on TV. Thatโs one reason to keep them in a destination location as long as you insist on neutral floors.
If we ever had a chance to win and we had one in a good location I would definitely go. A top ranked Niners team and a conference tourney in New Orleans, Miami, Nashville, something like that would be fun. Or Charlotte of course.
But alas, I donโt see us being good long as Mike is here.
Sounds like we are a couple steps away from just having it in Memphis. It is a good location, walk bars/restaurants, passionate fan base. The last one we had there was funโฆ
But Nola is ideal, new airport, great location, smoothie king center.
Not sure how the double bye would just overload the odds for Memphis, Top 4 teams now get double bye. That is a layup for Memphis to get even in off year. But lets face it, they have earned it.
If Memphis, Tulane leave for another conference, probably good chance they move first round back to school sites.
Wow.
I remember in high school when a buddy of mines whoโs dad was a lawyer of some success gave him baseline courtside tickets to the Acc tournament in Greensboro (I was in Kernersville) and this guy had to drive back and fourth from Greensboro every session to pick up a new friend to share that incredible wealth. I was lucky ro see what I seem to recall was the final between Duke and GT in 86.
Wow that was such a treat. Such a big deal.
Back then the world stopped for the Acc tournament.
Itโs just not the same anymore.
There just arenโt that many hard core fans for any one sport these days it seems other than the NFL.
Too many different sports, too many different movies and shows and hobbies and causes and distractions and oh yeah Donโt forget video games. You know that thing that is bigger than movies, TV, music combines. Like way way bigger than anything.
Thatโs a lot of attention that used to go to sports.
