NET #205 Marist definitely a âfeel goodâ story this season. Tied for first with #169 Quinnipiac in the 26th ranked MAAC. Projected a #16 vs #1 Duke in latest FOX/DeCourcy NCAAT bracketology. Red Foxesâ 363rd ranked SOS non-con sked had no P5s with a medicore Richmond being the most notable OOC opponent.
Just reminded that retired NBA all-star and Indiana Pacer great Rik âThe Dunking Dutchmanâ Smits attended Marist. Took the school to its second and last NCAAT appearance in 1987.
Had forgotten about all the NCAA troubles Marist faced in the mid-1980s.
Maybe Ninercentral you could start posting your displeasure about our coaching hires. Oh and remind us who you would have picked and how well you think they are doing at other schools. .
Doing that over and over may actually change the space time continuum and make your choices happen.
Iâm appreciative of the Marist mention. Reading about their run-in with the NCAA in the 1980s really shows, in retrospect, how silly much of the ârulebookâ was concerning violations and the arbitrary manner in which it was applied. Of course, Marist didnât do themselves any favors by instructing the players to basically lie to the investigators and a coach who boasted about his recruiting misdeeds.
Maybe Iâll just leave like the vast majority of our alumni. Yes, that would definitely be better. Ignore the program entirely like 95% of graduates and 99% of the city.
I see DLB just wants me to follow the Halton trend.
McGee, seriously? Guess Flagg should announce heâs giving up hoops after this season. Geez!
Not at all. I am glad people are engaged and bring different opinions and thoughts.
Just trying to be funny through sarcasm. Sarcasm is a superpower of mine. Wife doesnât appreciate it either
Today on ESPNâs Marty & McGee the guys were talking about athlete nicknames. Think it was McGee who mentioned âCornbreadâ being one of the best. Ironic given Cedric Maxwellâs disdain for the moniker Melvin Watkins bestowed upon his Niner teammate after they saw the movie Cornbread, Earl and Me in 1975.
Translation: âF*ck the fanbases of these schools who actually attend the games so I can watch even more hoops on TV than I do now. Couldnât care less about inconvenient start times for non-P5 fandom.â
Watching a bit of Arizona vs Arizona State. I know that Iâm a broken record on this but why in the hell Sanchez & Co didnât recruit BJ Freeman is criminal. Of course, in good company in overlooking the Raleigh hoopster now averaging 12.5 ppg 4.1 rpg 2.5 apg for the Sun Devils this year after two seasons at Milwaukee playing for former Queens HC Bart Lundy.
Now watching a bit of Clemson vs NC State. Donât want to hear anymore about how the ACC is good basketball.
I havenât heard anybody say the ACC is good to be honest. Other than Duke that is
Youâre lucky. Guess if I stop watching, listening, and reading about college hoops I could avoid the ACC hype too. Today Iâm being told the greatest rivalry in ALL of sports occurs tonight in Durham.
I consider Duke/UNCCh to be the most overrated âRivalryâ in all of sports. In the last 40 years theyâve only played 2 or 3 games that actually mattered.
Going to have to temper my feelings about Freeman after watching him head butt Caleb Love today. Awful officiating because initially the refs only threw Love out of the game but after a review also disqualified Freeman. Still not sure why Love got tossed since he didnât physically retaliate. And then Bobby Hurley showed that being an ass runs in the family by leaving the court without shaking hands with Tommy Lloyd et al.
Cory Alexander is the most annoying commentary guy in CBB.
He just starts talking and has no idea what his point is. His cadence and nasally voice are the absolute worst. I canât watch any game he is doing.
Now watching UofL vs GT. Almost didnât recognize Khalifa on the bench with those glasses heâs wearing!
See that Milicic was a DNP today due to illness. His absence and that of the Volsâ 2nd leading scorer didnât prevent UTK from whooping the Gators.
Florida only put up 44 pts.
That must have been like watching a Sanchez team.
