I agree with you!
A positive note is Robert Braswell! I know he transferred to us but he is returning for his 6th or 7th year? Shows me how much he loves basketball or maybe he just doesnโt want to enter the real worldโฆI do not blame him. But to return to us again and to not go to another school is surprising with this new era of college sports. I see him at football and baseball games so he must enjoy his time here at least a little!
Go Niners! (Gardner-Webb is must win)
I know thatโs how itโs done and I hate it. Itโs the same nonsense that had Bruton Smith knocking down 50k stands to make Charlotte motor speedway look like it was still full.
Selling more tickets is difficult so lets double and quadruple prices so we donโt have to do more work. Who cares if the seats are empty and those people that wanted to be there are watching from home.
I canโt imagine running a business like that and yet here we are with are state run university pricing out fans for seats that will not be sold otherwise.
So theyre purposely sabatoging our department and tgeir own career? Come on
Weโve done nothing noteworthy in either revenue sport the entire time Mike has been here. Weโve been comically bad and we havenโt grown the fan base. The coaching hires have been mind boggling. Yet his career is doing just fine. Half a mil a year and conferences and ncaa tourney trips.
Until we say enough of this shit, he wonโt be held accountable for anything.
Your logic is deeply flawed, because it assumes accountability. Either he is malicious or totally inept, but in either scenario, heโs flying high as a kite right now. Thatโs the reality.
Reality is whatever you believe. I believe someone is high, all right.
I donโt know what is the issue but something isnโt working, thatโs for darn sure
I dropped my tickets last year after over 2 decades as a season ticket holder.
Here is the thing - I donโt care if we win now. I am likely never buying them again. I have said before - I can take losing, I can take bad coaching hires - because there was always hope and the kids were Niners. I have zero hope in basketball ever being able to sustain winning and now the kids that are playing arent even really Niners and if somehow we DO win, with this coach or the next or with this AD or the next - its just wins we bought in the portal. If i want that - I will go back to watching the NBA.
I agree that college sports will never be the same and even P4 schools are having kids leave every year. The average QB in the SEC is making more the $1M per year which is more than some that are in the NFL. That is where it gets stupid for college sports.
We averaged more fans in basketball last year than in the last 10 years I think, but not 100%. We are only concerned about money right now instead of fans so we can pay for coaches and try to keep up with our other schools that we play. It is like NASCAR that they could care less about the number in the seats since TV is a bigger number.
WOW! I didnโt know Benny was coaching at my alma mater. GO RHINOS! (When I was at Gaston College, we were the Warriors and before that, the Rebels.)
Rieber still chucking 3s on his birthday I see.
Some commentary - not a very challenging schedule. Will give Fearne a chance to build some team cohesion and stack some Ws prior to Hawaii. Richmond, Davidson, and Utah State being the sole exceptions.
For the most part - meh. AAC not serious about hoops.
Awesome home slate for the fans. Whenโs the last time we had 2 DII teams on the schedule? I grew up in Salisbury so if playing a DII team might as well play local. We better be careful, we are close to EZU schedule territory. Will our OOC SOS even be top 200?
Only 1 d1. West Georgia is d1. ASUN
Ahh I googled and see they just moved up. The writer should high-light that so people know our home schedule is even more stellar.
ECU stopped scheduling non-D-I teams after the 2014-15 season - when the Pirates played a couple - up until last year when they had 1. This upcoming seasonโs sked lists 2.
(ECU did play 2 non-D-Is during the pandemic but not counting those since many were scrambling for games due to cancellations etc.)
