2024 49er Football Week 13 - Game #11 @ FAU 11/23 3PM ESPN+

I really like Brew.

Thoughts:
FAU is really bad

FAU was still able to run the ball early and often.

0 penalties. The kids CLEARLY have more respect for Brew. Especially when most of our penalties were presnap.

I did think we were much more prepared today. I think while many of the kids and people in the building may have loved biff, I think his whole schtick is distracting.

Winning is so much better than losing.

I think Fearne put the nail in Brew’s coffin earlier this afternoon. No way Mike can go with an interim with his other interim losing a buy game. I don’t think brew would have gotten it anyway, but I really don’t see it now.

UAB is worse than Gardner Webb. Let’s go end the season on a high note.

Mike hill hiring football coach #3. Basketball coach quit. Hired the interim to keep the roster together, which didn’t happen, and today we lose a buy game. Very hard to fundraise when that is the state of the revenue sports. Tack on the rising ticket prices and we have quite a situation. Just not sure I really see the direction right now.

Direction is Idle with an occasional revving sound. Going nowhere for 20 years with some one off noise here and there.

Vegas had the Niners preseason over/under for conference wins at 2.5. Won that one today! Vegas had our over/under for total wins at 3.5. One that one today too! This big spender is up a whole $20 :rofl:

I have no opinion but just wondering why a few on here dislike Brew. Seems like he could put together a good coaching staff and recruit players to come here. Just asking?

I’m going to enjoy this W, FAU typically out-athletes (if that’s a word) us and that didn’t happen today even with two new starting OL.

It’s bittersweet though, if Purdie and Blake were returning that’s an excellent core to build around. Unfortunately, like June Carter told Johnny Cash there’s one too many “ifs” in that sentence.

Hey the toughest schedule we ever had and end up 5-7. We’re not going to be able to build off that.

There are no meaningless wins. I am positive FAU would have preferred to have won. Sometimes these can be building blocks. We shall see.

Your comment assumes someone of proven quality wants to come here. Wilkes isn’t coming here, Luke isn’t quitting his gig at CPI to come here etc… I, like an earlier poster ask why does everyone think Brew is a bad choice? He checks off every criteria Hill outlined in his press conf. Has experience, has coached at a P4 school, loves charlotte , wants the job, great recruiter, etc…

33% winning percentage as a college head coach
doesn’t guarantee he would fail but it’s a big red flag

that was 14 yrs ago, and he took over for a fired coach. Since then he has coached at Miss St, FSU, TxA&M, NC, Fla, Col, all P4 programs. Can’t just rely on stats

He did a good job today riding the back of what turns out to be one of the best players on the team!!…. The Kicker.

He was 4/4 on FG’s, much better strategy today than going for it all the time on 4th down especially given we have no running game.

he may have taken over for a fired coach but he was there for 4 years and thats his only HC job. He could get the job and do well, just saying why some think Brew would be a bad choice.

FWIW, Fearne did keep the MBB roster together for the 2023-24 season. And Brice and Aly don’t count since they were already gone before Sanchez pulled his back to “Cavland” disappearing act, which no one here has lost a minute of sleep over.

first of all I agree with you, second, those comments come from posters that live in their grandma’s basement. Calm down, it’s a joke on the Biff thing. At that time the Big 10 was brutal, OSt, Mich, Wis, Mich St with Cousins etc… and we are talking about Min football . All I know, he is someone with experience, knows how to recruit and with that personality should do well with raising money. He’s worked at so many programs that he must have a war chest of asst’s he can call on. And he wants to be here!

Possibly a silly question, but what seems to be the players’ reaction to him. Pretty good, if you’re judging by today. They were disciplined and never quit!

0 penalties today? Is that true?

In the USF game we had over 100 yards in penalties

My comment assumes no such thing. My comment says he will be hired in lieu of a search. It doesn’t speak to the outcome. We have no idea for example who we could have gotten for basketball, because we didn’t wait until after the season and do a search.

Also, we have beaten dog syndrome around here. It’s pretty pathetic what Judy and Mike have done to a once proud fanbase.

I’d prefer not to knee jerk after 1 game against a bad team where we still couldn’t run the ball and barely completed 50% of our passes.

We are constantly thinking through the most myopic mindset possible.

I really like Purdie and Blake but unless Brew is the only way to get them to stay, this shouldn’t even be discussed.
