I really wish Russia was competing. Nothing would please me more than beating their asses like we’re beating most everyone else. 
I didn’t see that race, but I’m impressed because that Alfred gal is a freak athlete and seemed crazy fast.
Have really enjoyed these Olympics, especially after the pandemic-ridden games in Tokyo.
Been great watching Team USA do so well - men’s soccer + swimming and M+W beach VB aside - while also seeing “Cinderellas” like St. Lucia getting the spotlight as well!
And, of course, that opening ceremony performance by Gojira will forever be etched on my mind!

Agree that you want to see Team USA go up against all the best but the disruptive actions of Russia under its authoritarian dictator and his cult of personality very hard to ignore.
IMO, the list below has at least two omissions - the 2008 Russian invasion of Georgia and the Winter Olympics doping scandal of 2022:
