2025-26 49er MBB Game #8 vs Richmond 11/28 12:30PM ESPN+

Its not that complicated. Play Bonke 25-30 minutes if he isn’t in legit foul trouble. Shorten the rotation up as well. No elliott, less eyenga. Use Mading and Gomez more alongside Bonke and pound the ball inside. Other than that, use BB, Mingo, Freeman and,Harrison when he is healthy along with 10-12 minutes each for Butler and Conyers. I like Blackmon but his offense is just so bad 90% of the time.

Those were when we finally dialed up our effort and focus on defense. If we played like that from the opening tip every game, then the record probably looks a lot closer to what we expected this season.

Anyone got $1.5 million they would like to throw away on a good cause?

I’m worried abt every team we play.

In the post game interview with Matt, Fearne didn’t seem to have a sense of urgency. Fearne said he didn’t know if our players would figure things out by our next game or three months from now. That doesn’t inspire confidence.

I heard that too and it was a comment by a coach who is very frustrated with his team.

The last 30 seconds before half encapsulates everything about this year and the Sanchez / Fearne years. We have the ball with a 5 second differential on the shot clock and a chance to cut into the lead before half. Mingo dribbles for too long 35 feet from the basket and gets the shot clock down and we don’t even get a shot off. Richmond takes the ball at half court with 5 seconds to go. They drive the whole half court and no one picks up the ball or gets close to the Richmond guard till he is 4 feet from the basket! Luckily they missed but WTAF!!!

Our guards are crap. With 4 minutes to go we have 3 assists and 8 turnovers. The PG by committee is a death spiral.

The 10 to 12 man rotation is ridiculous. I understand it is all about the conference slate and tourney but it has to be narrowed down. If Fearne has guarantees he has given out for court time it is time to cancel those promises.

How can Blackmon miss so many shots. It is uncanny.

I had an 8 year old Y team that could block out better on free throws.

I can’t even figure out which stage of grief I am in anymore…..

Fearne has made it quite clear that he owes no one PT and especially as it concerns NIL.

If Fearne feels that way maybe he has done too much scouting/eval watching film on his ipad. Is he traveling around the country/world evaluating talent?, does not seem like he has any specific footprint…..Did he scout and recruit any of these guys over longer than a two week period?.. really seems like he brought in a miscellaneous group of players.

I didn’t hear it but I am sure he/Fearne understands an interim AD isn’t going to fire a coach, mid season or after season. He knows he has at least 2 more seasons, new AD hired next year, going to want a year at least to evaluate. Buckle in, this is what we will get for the foreseeable future.

Have you had this conversation with Fearne personally where he expressed this to you or are you going by the same sound bites and press conferences with ā€œ coach speakā€ we have all heard?

Recruiting did not get any ā€œ cleanerā€ with NIL but if this 12 man rotation continues no matter what the reasoning I guess we will have to continue hearing announcers saying Charlotte can not seem to get into any rythmn 10 times a game with everyone watching and in the stands saying…no fcking shit….

Fearne doesn’t not have 2 more seasons. New AD will want their own HC, not to keep one with a below 500 record. They won’t have to evaluate anything. The 3 seasons with him as HC will be enough

I think he’s saying it’s unlikely he gets fired at the close of this season if we haven’t filled the AD slot.

It sounds like it will be close. New AD spring of 2026 - it really comes down to are they hired in March in which case he’s probably gone or is it late April in which case he’s probably safe for a year.

If Sharon thinks we need to move on from Fearne I’d think that’s an internal date she could be working with.

We all claim these kids are pro players now and I believe Fearne is treating them that way.
The problem is that they are still college age kids that need some emotional guidance and leadership.

This team is missing a leader and the mental toughness is not there. There are plenty of coaching things to complain about. For me, it was the lack of any second half adjustments in the Davidson game, but Fearne can still coach.

We have to stop running through coaches like The Showdawg and Hootie ran through hoes back in their younger days.

I still can’t believe how many times Hill put us in these situations. It felt like we were committed to Healy and Sanchez forever, even after the fans could see things were not working out. The day the news came out that Sanchez was leaving on his own felt like we landed on get out of jail free. It was like freedom just fell into our lap. And then Hill ends up doubling down on a coach who has essentially carried on the Sanchez system with putrid offense and the same pack line that everyonr else seems to have figured out. And now it’s looking like Sanchez was actually a better head coach than Fearne. It’s so frustrating to continue to be tied to these underperforming coaches with long term contracts. In today’s environment when players rarely stay more than a couple years, I don’t understand giving 5 year contracts to unproven coaches. 4 years should be the max.

Hill always felt like Sanchez was his Trophy hire and carried over to naming Fearne the HC.

Honest to God this has been a problem since the Major era. Would love to know how many points we’ve left on the table from missed layups since 2010, and how many games that’s cost us.

We’ve left points on the table long before 2010 and, yes, that cost us some games.

Every team, every player miss layups. I missed my share as well. Way different making a layup with big bodies pushing you around.

Yeah, occasionally……but this team literally misses more than they make.
