I was curious so I googled Kilgo. Interesting guy.
In 1975, Kilgo became the radio play-by-play voice of the Charlotte 49ers and was on the microphone in 1977 when they advanced to the NCAA basketball tournament’s Final Four. “That was just a sensational season, a sensational story,” Kilgo said.
I remember those days fondly. In fact, the most fond memories ever for me. It was a crushingly sad ending for me. We should have won the national championship, but didn’t and for reasons i feel were biased and blatantly crooked. Nuff said. It was quite an awesome ride that year.
Can think of a few reasons. First, Domon doesn’t play for a P5. Second, this year is proving to be one of the best - if not THE best - freshman classes ever, so he’s “lost” to most of the so-called college basketball experts who are focused on the much hyped trio of Boozer, Dybantsa, and Peterson. Finally, he came directly from France to southeastern Kentucky, so basically no pre-college recruiting publicity.
And BTW, Murray State’s Ryan Miller is having quite an inaugural season as a head coach after 20+ years as an assistant.
See that Nik has returned to the starting lineup for Creighton’s game vs #2 UConn tonight after coming off the bench in the previous 12 contests. Has remained the assist leader for the Bluejays throughout.
