clt asks who should start next week?
Our offensive play calling: 1st & 10, run up the middle. 2nd & 8, screen or check down to the side line (little gain or loss of yards). 3rd & long QB scrambles to try to make something happen but is immediately under pressure because the opposing defense knows we are behind the chains. This is assuming no penalties which totally kills the drive in and of itself.
I didnāt think Harrell played that bad but they donāt put him in the position to be successful. No designed QB run plays to mix things up? Plain vanilla predictable schemes. Henry Rutledge is our best RB but doesnāt play. I thought he was hurt or having some type of NIL hold out situation but he did come in once to have a big run, never to be seen again.
The first time we got close to the red zone the coaching staff acted totally content kicking a field goal. You donāt win games kicking FGs and playing totally scared! The 2016, 2019, 2021 and possibly the 2024 Niner teams would have blew the Tarheels out.
Beating App or the tarheels would have been huge for our football program yet the games were approached like NFL preseason games. BTW, I know it was raining and they got smoked last Monday but that was one of the least loud opposing crowds Iāve ever heard given the number. NC Central, NC A&T, App, ECU, and even JMU fans were far louder. This was probably the one and only time chapel hill ever plays us on campus especially if they move to the SEC or Big 10. As a life long North Carolinian a little surreal to see us hosting them on our campus.
Got to regroup with Monmouth and Rice coming up Saturday then Thursday. Got to give the coaching staff time even though I donāt understand some of the play calling. Schedule is setting up to be the toughest ever with USF set to be ranked and Temple, UNT, Army, and Tulane looking good this weekend. The pains of being a Niner fan but Iām still proud of my Alma mater!
What happened to King?
Coach said in the radio post game that he talked with Johnnyās mom had not talked with the training staff, mentioned the back (possibly back cramps). Coach didnāt act like it was serious. Wonāt know until Tuesday press conference.
I thought I saw him headed to the locker room after that carry. I think he might have aggravated whatever was bothering him. Whatever it is, I hope heās 100% soon.
Idk about dangerous, but maybe respectable.
it was nice to see improvement, but we wonāt be winning many games without a running game and relying on dump off passes for 2-3 yards.
I was happy enough with our d. The tackling is significantly better than we have had in years. Need more pass rush though.
Is it just me or have we seemed smaller on both lines, especially defense the past two weeks? Agree with the comments about improvement. Sure would like to see a W with that improvement soon. That game was there for the taking and we crapped all over it. We are so bad on offense I canāt figure out what is driving it. Itās tough to watch.

Great write up by Hunter. He summed the night up well.
We beat ourselves. My personal disdain for CHeat aside, they are not a good football team. This was a very winnable game. We blew it.
Great crowd??? Well thatās about to changeā¦..
Nothing I can really add that hasnāt already been mentionedā¦too many self-inflicted wounds to overcome. Still, I thought the defense improvement was notable and gives some hopeā¦offense, I saw some positives, but got to figure out the run gameā¦thatās killing us.
When you are way behind the sticks or behind late in the game the D will rush 3 and drop 8. Windows and lanes become really small. Canāt have it both ways, canāt complain we have no running game and all we do is dinkās and screens but when you throw deep across the middle or deep post you are bring risk in, itās going to happen.
Yes we did have lotās of 3rd and 9+ās and we didnāt convert a single one of them the entire game
Weāve got family weekend and homecoming left. That will help. But yes, we do like doing this to ourselves.
Next week is family weekend so I expect another great crowd. After that if we are not winning then I wouldnāt expect much. We need a win, bigly.
Definitely improvement from week 1 to week 2. Defense stepped up and did their part.
Offense has to find a way to move the ball consistently and put points on the board. Was told yesterday at the tailgate Harrell pulled a hammy last spring and itās just been a nagging injury, so that may be why they arenāt using his legs more. The problem is if he canāt run then why is our running QB getting the nod for PT. Between QB Rutledge and Brown feels like we arenāt using talent wisely.
Tailgate was great new location was solid! Yāall come join us Saturday.
No, I dont but its better than 20ā¦..

The Rich got a ton of run on Reddit CFB last night. They were pimping our band too.
Itās like weāre really only missing one thing to make this goā¦
I cannot disagree more on doing a senseless 4th down conversion attempt. That would be so dumb. People clammer about statistics and whatnot, but those only work in a league with parity. The reality is, our guys are smaller than their guys, we try to push forward for one yard on 4th down, weāll lose it more times than not.
First field goal made sense because it makes it a one possession game and you trust your defense. You tell your other 11+ guys you have enough confidence in them to stop scoring. The second field goal made sense because it means one touchdown gets the lead. We missed the second field goal, but it still made sense.
The only 4th down attempt that would have made sense was the one we tried. And who would have guessed, the smaller team tried running it for the first down and lost to the larger players. Shocking.
Going for it on 4th down is playing losing football, especially when a game is close like that
Won the tailgate. Thatās something to build on.
Undefeated there.
