1-14 in our last 15 games on linear TV. Not great!
Rice is averaging 243 yards rushing per game, but only 70 yards passing, giving them the worst total offense in the AAC, and 37 yards less than Charlotte. In terms of points, though, they average 20.3 points a game compared to Charlotte at 18.7.
Rice Rushing: Defensively, Charlotte is above the middle of the pack in the AAC against the run, giving up 4.0 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Rice is averaging on 4.3 yards per rush, so they have a lot of yards because they run a lot of rushing plays, and not so much because of big plays.
Rice Passing: Rice not only doesnāt run a lot of passes, they donāt get a lot of yards when they do. They average only 5.1 yards per attempt, far less than anyone else in the AAC. Charlotte is giving up 7.8 yards per play, towards the bottom of the AAC. Something has to give. With Rice air it out more, or will Charlotteās pass defense have a great day?
Charlotte rushing: Charlotte is averaging only 2.8 yards per carry, and that will need to improve. This might be a good game for it. Rice is giving up an average of 4.5 yards/carry, second to last in the AAC.
Charlotte passing: Charlotteās passing attack is averaging 8.0 yards/carry, average for the AAC. Rice, however, has had a good pass defense (or maybe itās because they played Louisiana, which seems to have no good QB), giving up only 5.5 yards per passing attempt, near the top of the AAC.
It looks to me like rushing will determine this game. Can Charlotte stop Rice? Can Charlotte move the ball on the ground?

Rice should have rolled Prairie View, Monmouth was a very different quality FCS program. Canāt say that I disagree with the general analysis in the Rice previewā¦if we cut down on penalties and not turn the ball over three times in the first half, I feel that the progress we saw last week in the second half can carry overā¦hope Iām right.

Are students going to wear gold or does this gold rush game just mean the players will wear gold uniforms?
My expectation after the App game was for the defense to improve. And they did against UNC.
After the UNC game, I was hoping they would air it out more with fewer dunks. And they did against Monmouth, with a lot of success.
Now Iām hoping for fewer penalties.
Put those three things together, and maybe we go bowling.
I think it means fans and team wear gold. Iām wearing my free gold tee shirt I got last year at a basketball game.
I dreamed last night we won this game. So thereās that.

Really like his messaging here. Heās never before won a game in his career where his team committed 3 TOs, collected none from the other team, and committed 11 penalties. He is happy that the offense overcame those mistakes Saturday but thatās not winning football. Focus is on fixing those. He said the staff was not bashful about pointing that out to the team.
Also said they did some August prep work for Riceās offense knowing that this would be a short week and they are somewhat unique.

We had a great tailgate Saturday before the first win of the season.
We will fire things back up Thursday. I might be the only one there for awhile but Iāll set up around 2. With the expected smaller crowd and condensed tailgate time we will have limited food. Beer cooler and shots of course. Never a buy in and everyone and anyone is welcome. We love new faces and old. So if you are hustling from work and dont have time to get tailgate supplies, just come join us! We got you covered!
As yall know we try to be more than just a tailgate, from hurricane relief supplies to our food drives every year. Thursday is the last day for our annual school supplies. I think this is at least year 10 of school supplies. So bring some by and we will get them to schools and students in need!
