Actually on the telecast they said CLT spent a lot of time practicing against the option for this game in the spring because they knew it was different and it was going to be a short week early in the season. Just didnāt look like it.
I didnt have another team or care about college football until I graduated charlotte and we got a team. Was and still am an NFL fan my parents just werenāt CFB fans so neither was I.
Special teams need in-game reps too
Loftis has to be the guy from here on out right?
Pretty much the same.
was much more of a pro sports fan than college until I got to college.
I was a huge NBA fan as a kid but didnāt know crap about college ball until I started watching our team at charlotte.
kinda the same for NFL.
only charlotte sports is what made me a college sports fan.
If I had not gone to college I probably wouldnāt care about college sports.
Gold Standard
If you didnāt go to college/Charlotte, think of the money you would have saved on medications for high blood pressure, anxiety, depression and stints at rehab.
I decided to wait until I had the drive home to calm down about our performance tonight.
Where are all the people now who wanted loftis at QB? Thereās definitely no question on who should be our QB. Loftis has zero pocket awareness. He stops looking downfield and starts looking down as soon as a defender gets within couple yards of him. Donāt know how many balls he threw at the receivers feet tonight. And heās slow. Heās trexler Ivey 2.0. He has no game presence. Like you donāt throw a 4 yard pass in middle of field in two minute offense. On last drive Sean brown was 5 yards behind defender but he threw it underneath for 15 yard gain instead of a touchdown. If heās our QB then we will definitely be 1-11 this year but we very well may be anyway.
I was definitely a fan on Albin and the coaching staff but seeing many issues so far. Offensively, they were jumping our slants all night. Where was a slant and go ? This is third time this year that we get down deep in their territory and we donāt even try for first down. We just tried to gain couple yards to get closer field goal. And two of those three, we missed the field goal. I see bad use of time outs and clock management. No urgency on offense there on scoring drive. It looked like we had never practiced a two minute drive. Also with 19 seconds, we are at 35. Smart decision is to try the field goal and then onside kick. Instead we throw incomplete pass and then 10 yard pass and incomplete to end the game. Last series of game and we have a WR on the field who hasnāt caught a pass this season and we target him twice. When game is on the line, you go to your best catchers.
Iām seeing poor fundamentals, lack of game knowledge. 4th straight game where the defense lets up right before half and gives up points. We have given up 31 points in last 2 minutes of first half over 4 games. Thatās lack of focus. Playing conservative. We are playing not to lose rather then to win. On defense itās same issues we have dealt with for years. Arm tackling. Never works but we keep trying. No outside containment on runs. Letting receivers run past you definitely isnāt a good method of stopping them. Receivers dropping passes that should of scored touchdowns You canāt run until you catch it n
rice is a cellar dweller team. They were in conference usa and are in American. Theyre not a very good team but we are bad
I am very disappointed with this team and coaching staff. We have been manhandled by both Rice and App who have new coaches. If we are at the top end of NIL, we cannot evaluate talent and missed on a coach again. You do not get 3 yrs now with the portal.
Gonna have to recruit higher Caliber of players, especially up front on both sides of the ball
Iām saying they should do the latter. If you had another team, you(not you, but the proverbial you) should have dropped them). Plenty of people did that
I have a solutionā¦donāt play any other teams with coaches in their first season, like us, at the new programā¦.play teams with a coach whose been there 30+ years, we win everytime.
Iāve not lost faith in the coach or the teamā¦yetā¦but that first drive to start for Rice and the last of the 1st half, they ran through us like butter. Otherwise, the defense looked solid.
I donāt know the answers, Iām as frustrated as everyone elseā¦.when I think about the cost of season tickets, parking, contributions to the Niner Club, concessions, etc., after 13 seasons, Iām about ready to reconsiderā¦When our winningest coach is still Healyā¦Iām almost done.
Our issues on offense continued ie unable to run the ball and finish drives. We need our receivers to make some plays, we had several drops.
Injuries are obviously a big problem and we have little depth. Coach mentioned in the post game about meeting with Rutledge and his family to discuss having surgery. I doubt he plays again this year.
I told those in this forum LONG ago that Albin was recruiting FCS level players but no one would listen to me. I kept hearing āheās a winnerā and āwe got a real coachā and that he would just out-coach everyone.
Well a few things hold true at this point..
- Those players are indeed FCS level
- Albin aināt much without his Ohio coordinators
- We may lose every FBS game we play this year
- At least Biffās staff won 3 games in year 1, and 5 games in year 2, as much as you didnāt ālikeā him/them.
- Biff wasnāt Saban but he had an eye for talent thatās why 14 players from last year are currently on Power 4 rosters.
- We sure could use Purdie right about now. Remember when he tweeted, āHire Brewā?
Let me ask you a question; what made you say he was recruiting fcs level players? Our class was ranked near the top of aac, and had at a minimum, offers from other aac teams.
Youād take purdie over harrell, with what you saw from harrell before he got hurt? How can you confidently say albin is nothing without his ohio coordinators? What inside info do you have? Biff was terrible, and yes albin is a winner. You donāt win every where you go by accident, or getting lucky with coordinators
You have to dig deeper than the rankings by 24/7. You can wipe your tail with those rankings. Everybody is considered a ā3-starā even the guys we got from D2. So at that point itās just weighted by how many ā3-starsā we obtained. We were ranked that high because we brought in more numbers than just about every one else. Doesnāt mean we brought in quality.
Iām not going just based on ratings. Iām going based on offer lists too, and production at last stop. But again, Iāll ask, what info did you have that made you certain that we brought in fcs level players? Also, we werenāt ranked that high just bc if number of transfers. In terms of digging deeper, I obsessively follow recruiting, so few dig deeper than I do
I remember when Purdie tweeted Hire Brew. I also remember when our entire basketball team said to Hire Fearne and showed their appreciation by leaving. I am done players having a say in who we hire.
I trust Albin to get things figured out here. I donāt expect it to happen this season but hopefully next year and going forward.
