The OL did indeed get hammered, with even more players out than previously reported. From the depth chart, it looks like Rod Green will be starting at RG. I think he is going to be one of the better pickups from the portal. He’s just a redshirt Sophomore, and btw, he’s not small. He’s 6’5” and 315. I could see him being a starter for the next couple of years.
Some oddities in that report are that several players I though were gone for the season are listed as out for the game: That would be Rutledge, McGowan, and Burgess. Maybe Rutledge and McGowan figure they won’t have eligibility next year, so, if they can, they will return for the last game or two?
One player previously reported as inured is gone from the list, that being Adam Hopkins IV.
I feel like our past 2 coaches (Albin and Biff) run a very boring old school style on offense and it’s hard to compete against these high powered teams. Do we struggle to recruit players for these systems? Why are other new coaches finding success bringing in the right players for their specific system on offense.
at least in a high powered hurry up style offense it means we would at least put up some points.
