It sounds like pretty much any meaningful change to the current system is going to require an antitrust exemption. I wish someone would start doing whatever is required to make some of these changes instead of continuing to talk about why nothing can be changed.
Let’s be honest here - the P4 don’t won’t anything to do with a consolidated TV contract. That would certainly drive the Big Ten and SEC to break away. Pernetti knows that. His idea got the conference it’s “15 minutes” and diverted from the other mostly embarrassing recent story lines related to the AAC - Oops! Sorry! - I mean the American!

At this point I think the ACC and Big 12 would be willing to talk about it but the P2 absolutely wouldn’t want any part of it. They need to break away and take the handful of top brands left in the ACC with them. Then let everyone else get back to playing college sports with new rules that can keep the playing field somewhat level and that cannot be legally challenged.
