I definitely donāt get the not enough talent narrative, especially compared to app, and the AAC
Maybe it wonāt get any votes. I tried to add all the possible reasons I could think of, and I missed the schedule, unfortunately.
I created a spreadsheet of all players that should be on the 2025 roster (does not include Brown, Mayes, or Holley) and have been playing with it. Here are some of my findings.
Average Height: 6ā-1.64"
Average Weight: 228 lbs
I wanted to compare Charlotteās measurements to the average FBS team, this is below.
Average FBS Height: 6ā-1.94"
Average FBS Weight: 237.41 lbs
Charlotte is a tad bit below average for these metrics⦠Height cannot be controlled; however, the summer bulk will work magic. 33 of our players are either Freshman or RS Freshman, averaging just under 212 lbs, so there is room to grow.
Moving onto the experience/class of the teamā¦
Above is a simple chart showing the classes. I consider Sr/R-Sr/6th/Gr classes as āAt-Riskā, meaning there is a chance of them being out of eligibility after the 2025 season.
To break it down a tad bit more, I organized it by position groups below.
Positions with a red highlight indicate that over 33% of the room is āAt-Riskā. However, āAt-Riskā may not actually be at-risk, due to JUCO rulings, specialty waivers, etc. Also, keep in mind, young guys are able to out perform elders.
On top of that, I also broke down the competition level of each playerās previous school, separating new and existing players. These charts are below.
As shown, the room of āexistingā players is full of guys that were recruited out of HS; 18 of the 27 are Redshirt Freshman in 2025 (Biffās C/O 2024 recruiting class). With this being said, it helps Albinās year one; it allows him to bring in the one-and-done players that boast experience across the board, without having to worry about mass grads post-2025.
Accidently posted mid-type. It is now updated with all of the info I have found thus far.
Thanks Yung Niner. That was a lot of work.
Iām excited for next season for many reasons but mainly because we hired a very competent coach. That cannot be argued.
If we donāt improve our record or go down next year (certainly possible with this schedule) I will not fret or lose faith. I will be patient.
I agree, Gassman. A bowl game is simply one goal of many. Itās a hope, and an easy metric to measure, but not the final determination of the success or failure of a season. Think back to where this started. Back in December, one man arrived with a suitcase, to find a team with about 70 players in the portal, and maybe 45 players left, mostly reserves, and only 1-2 Freshmen still committed to Charlotte. He looked a bit overwhelmed, but faced the press and said that he had a lot of work to do, so he better get busy.
I was thinking āThis has disaster written all over itā. Yet, he didnāt panic. He put one foot in front of the other, and took small steps each day. No single remarkable thing happened, but each day there was progress. Staff was added slowly. Some players were talked into returning from the portal. New players were added from the portal. More staff was added. Freshmen were added. Conditioning was instituted. Defensive schemes were agreed on, and an offensive playbook was developed. Then came Spring practice, and more players left for the portal, and more players were added from the portal. Now, six months later, the cumulative progress is amazing. There is now an excellent staff, a good looking team, and a huge improvement in morale.
If the team plays competitively in games, never gives up, and shows improvement each week, thatās a success, as far as Iām concerned. But, a bowl game would clinch it as a successful season, and everyone will be happy, so Iām going to hope for that. When you look back at the progress over the last six months, itās hard not to project significantly more progress over the next six months. Therefore, Iām absolutely not willing to concede that Charlotte will lose to Tulane, no matter how good they turn out to be.
Go Charlotte! You can kick some serious butt this fall!
CarP,
Are you going to make it down to any of our games? I am sure that several people would like to host you at a tailgate.
CarlP got me ready to run through a brick wall this morning!
I am still not convinced that CarlP and Albin are not the same ![]()

Schedule. It appears to be our toughest one yet
-
Unproven QB. We historically havenāt had a lot of success at QB, Iāll need to see one of them ball out before I get too excited.
-
Weāve only been bowling once in our history, weāve got to show we can do it.
That being said if we look good beating App Iāll change my tune and be happy to do so. Like someone said that game is similar to JMU last year, we really need that W.
Yes, I need to pick a game and make travel arrangements. Iāve got to get there. I can do most any game, if I schedule it now. Temple might be a good choice, but that would be a logical choice for homecoming, which I should probably avoid.
How does UTSA sound? A late game like UTSA will let me see all the progress that has been made. I see there are a couple of mid-week games, Rice and North Texas, and I could do one of those easily enough. I do hate to see them playing on 5 days rest against Rice, though.
Iām in a wedding on homecoming, I might have you two tickets for free if you would like them.
App St - W
UNC - W (EARLY SEASON UPSET, SENDS SHOCKWAVES THROUGHOUT CFB)
Monmouth - W
Rice - W
@ USF - W
@ Army - L
Temple - W
N. Texas - L
@ ECU - W (rivalry game that comes down to the wire with a storybook ending)
UTSA - L
@ UGA - L
@ Tulane - W
Fenway Bowl vs. Virginia Tech - W
Me think somebody is drunk on that spiked green Kool-Aid, but would be ecstatic if anywhere near correct ![]()
If you only need one ticket, it is looking like I will have one available for the Temple game
How come Cameron Williams said this video was from like May 6th and he talks about us having Donovan Spellman on our defense but he entered the portal in April lol. Did he decide to return? Any foreshadowing or am I way off on dates?
Thatās a very gracious offer, but Iāll be traveling alone, and would prefer to avoid homecoming weekend.
Thank you very much for the offer. That sounds perfect, and Iāll take you up on it. Iāll book in reservations for Temple, and put it on my calendar. I definitely expect to watch a win that weekend.
