2025 Charlotte 49er Football 🏈

I’m not hugely impressed by Hill’s body of work but I’m not taking a victory lap on an objectively A+ hire one game into his tenure. Albin deserves a MINIMUM of 2 years before he should be significantly criticized unless we see Biff levels of carelessness (we won’t). He inherited a mess

I hope Albin will be fine, but all new coaches inherit a mess. The App coach replaced his whole team and looked like a Super Bowl champ in talent and game prep compared to us.

That is what is most concerning.

As negative as we’ve all been (including myself), I had so much fun at that game.

I never expect the team to win, I just love watching football. We may not win but I loved seeing Harrell get hurt and then come back in. Even though he didn’t play well, if it was Poggi, Harrell would have been swapped out after the first quarter. The consistency and the trust Albin has in the players is a nice change of pace.

I got like 3 free beers at the game, I was the life of the section. It was a fantastic time. I’m pumped to walk into an alum owned bar next week surrounded by Chapel Hill fans, and I’m pumped to go to the Monmouth game.

Honestly, it will take me a while to become familiar with the roster. How many of the OL & DL that had significant playing time were late period portal adds? Anyone know?

Wait, why will our alum owned bar be surrounded by unc fans? Also, not expecting yo win is a problem(not on you, on us). I need to win. I’m confident albin knows what he’s doing but am very concerned by how we looked. I hope to see us fix a lot against carolina

The last 2 decades of niner sports have force me to find my enjoyment in other ways at our games. The tailgate was amazing. Had a blast seeing old friends and new and a lot of own of towners and others i hadn’t seen in a long time.

I tried to take note of who was playing. Here are some that I saw, or thought I saw, and I updated it to reflect the game stats and participation report. A lot of players played, so now the coaches will have them on film in real game action (tackles are in parenthesis):

OL: LT- Ramil, LG-Clipper, C-King, RG-Shirley, RT-Bowers (also played Gibson, Silvia, D. Davis, Adair, Samples)

TE: Young, Bearns, McGee (also played Adair)

DE: Burgess (2), Kaba (1)

NT: Solomon(2), Irving(1), Miles

DT: Shockley (1), Holley(2), Williams(3)

DE: Johnson(0), Mullen(1), Simpson(3), Talib (0)

LB: Taylor(7), Schmitz(9), Williford(3), WIllis(4), Startz, Okate

FS: Grant(7), Curtain(5), Gill(5), Womack

SS: McGee(2), Breon(1), Allen(1)

CB: Baldwin(3), Clinkscales(4), Bootle(3), Shipman, Edwards

NB: Conley(8), R. Franklin(4), D. Williams

I don’t remember for sure who was an early portal addition and who was after Spring Camp, but I think that the DL that were late portal adds were Williams, Solomon, Simpson, Kaba, Talib and Irving. On the OL, I think Ramil was a late addition. Other late additions that played were, Nicholas, Cam Smith, Boyd, Shay Taylor and Kaden Schmitz.

[Note: That’s an awful lot of tackles by the FS and NB. ]

I took it from the participation report, at the bottom of this:

Note that it is absolutely possible that there are errors in it. I found another one that I’m sure is wrong. They list no one as starting at RG, but 3 people starting at DE. Since I saw Mo Clipper start, I presume that what they did was list the wrong #55 as starting (i.e. Cheick Kaba). It might also have been someone other than a Davis that played, perhaps Bullerdick. Whoever it was was probably the backup center.

Bullerdick was also out. It seems a few guards were hurt. Looking at the depth chart, I definitely see some weak spots, namely Dzt and corner outside of bootle

Outside of Harrell (QB), the Punter and Stokes (whom was already here and injured last year), trying to figure out whom we spent NiL$ on to get here in the Portal? Carl any view on this?

Whom are the 5 or 6 guys we were expecting to be contributors? It seemed App had lots of talent they brought in.
