No details leaked yet. It seems like it may be on the level of Sherrone Mooreās conduct though.
I wonder how much Albin knew about?
Any players left over from the Albin era that may look to relocate here?
I would bet he is looking hard at any and all that could help which would be everyone there. We need to go after them and start building immediately. I am sure the coaches will be looking around as well. We can use them too.
A NY Times article from yesterday says he admitted to keeping booze in his office and having a drink with assistant coaches after some gamesā¦. There might be something else that was not in the file because it seems like that would grounds for a ātalkān toā rather than termination. Ohio University fires football coach for cause; personnel file shows previous violation of school policy - The Athletic
That sounds like someone was looking for a reason to get rid of him
Yeah. Will be interesting to see what comes out.
If you have gone to the trouble of hiring an attorney you donāt think you did anything that bad.
It could be his boss just wanted to fire him.
Get all the Ohio talent here stat.
Was he their OC before being promoted??
Hint, Hintā¦..
And quite a mixed bag as far as success since leaving the conference.
Sounds like a ticky tac reason to fire someone. There must be more to this than a drink with adults in your office. That rates a reprimand at most in my opinion
Agree, get their talent asap!
Since Smith was fired, this had probably moved past the reprimand stage. Can just speculate that he continued to ignore workplace policy on alcohol and drug use.
Just another dumb MFer. ![]()
āParticipation in extramarital affairs, including one with an undergraduate student, to which you have admittedā
āRepeated use of alcohol in your office, in violation of university policyā
āA public appearance during which you smelled strongly of alcohol and were intoxicated in your demeanorā
Hard for me to believe Albin would be afraid to confront one of his Ohio U subordinates about violating employee policy and instead moved 350 miles away so as to avoid any such confrontations.
Thatās a fair point. I probably shouldnāt speculate. Deleting my comment.
I had just been listening to todayās Highway 49 podcast and Coach said this:
āMy number one thing as a head coach - I want a locker room full of good men. Iām taking a good person over a good player every time.ā
I would think that sentiment applies to staff as well.
