Today marks the inaugural football game for UT Rio Grande Valley, which was created by the merger of two UT schools in 2013. Predecessor UT Pan American - like UNCC - had football during its JUCO period before shutting the program down in 1950. Vaqueros will complete as an FCS team in the Southland. Like everything else in the Lone Star State, UTRGV has over 34,000 students.
