2025 MBB Recruiting Thread šŸ€

I think it’s ridiculous that anyone can go to College of Charleston and start recruiting like that while we cannot get anyone. Or even worse, Wilmington doing it.

There’s no excuse. The AAC is a higher profile league than those teams. We should have more money too.

I like Fearne but this is looking ridiculous.

Fearne is a good guy but he has 0 recruiting connections. He is not a good evaluator of talent

I agree it is starting to look bleak but Charleston, UNCW, High Point, etc without FB are looking to be in a whole lot better shape than G5s with FB. Not enough to cover both sports I imagine.

I am holding out hope for new Assitant Coach to bring in talent but if he does not it is not looking good.

In BB it only takes 2 players to turn it around if everyone else plays their role. Flio side is why it takes 20 years is beyond comprehension.

I wouldn’t hold out much hope with the new assistant coach but getting a good assistant to sign up for a coach who will probably be gone in a year is difficult

Totally agree with these last few posts. Forget about the AAC. It feels like right now we are at the bottom of the Carolinas and losing out to schools I never gave a second thought to.

Speaking of gaslighting, can you back up your statement of ā€œ He is not even contacting guys that ca be good at this level, that we can get. ā€˜ ???

Unless you are working on recruiting for us, you have no clue what Fearne is doing.

There is another poster who is connected who knows this info quite well so, no, im not guessing. If he wants to share, ill let him do so but defending fearne as a coach, seems insane and based on no results

With all the players and coaches leaving and decommitting, it sure would be nice to get some type of update from the athletic director and/or coach on what the heck is going on. Been dead silence since the season ended.

I’m shocked we don’t have many commits yet

You do you. Not sure I have ever seen a positive from you on any post. Even when we were 3rd in conference, nothing. So forgive me if I don’t follow you down the pessimist hole you are in.
I will see what we do this year and decide.

Lol.wow. from me. I get accused of being an optimist usually. To the point if delusion. But im also not gping to pretend like it’s okay to suck. We should never be in this position and we shoukd all be pissed about it.

I don’t think an update is needed.

It’s self evident.

We are sucking a@@.

Well considering that the National Letter of Intent was done away with on October 9, 2024, and student-athletes were allowed to transfer an unlimited number of times without penalty in 2024, we have not had much history under these new rules.

Agree with you, but all schools have had the same amount of time to learn how to operate under the new rules. The other schools look to be doing OK

It appears that football and women’s sports has taken priority over men’s basketball. The hope has to be that Fearnes is crafty enough to miraculously make the Niners competitive with less talented players. I don’t think it’s possible given how far we have dropped over the years.

Mark another off the contract list:

This is still insane to me.

They are still getting a scholarship.

I fail to see how a 1 year commitment is unfair and cannot be enforced.

I overheard a staff member talking this weekend about all the irons we have in the fire and negotiating and promises and we’ll be pleasantly
pleased…but I’ll believe it when I see it.
