There’s not much riding on today’s game, so hopefully we get some guys rested and get some of our less frequently used pitchers some work.
We need to win the game and start some momentum going forward. They can rest the off-season which may be sooner than hoped for if we don’t win the series at Memphis.
What a disappointing season.
This game could not be more meaningless. Surely we shouldn’t burn any arms we’re going to use this weekend. If it did mean anything we would have canceled it
Just some numbers I was curious about:
We are now 16-9 with Dawson Bryce in the line-up & 9-17 without him in the line-up.
Winning % jumps from 35% to 64% when he’s in there. Now he’s not the only factor, but it’s clear that we are a much different team when he is at SS and in the middle of our line-up. That gives me hope that we can finish the season strong.
How about a winning record for the season? We lose and win 2 out of 3 against Memphis we are only .500 for the season going into the tournament. We would have to sweep Memphis for a winning regular season. It might not seem important to some but it makes a huge difference in my opinion.
Does losing Bryce say anything about our depth?
Rested some guys and kept momentum. Just what the doctor ordered.
Great pitching performances last night. Also was surprised to see Thad Ector playing for Gardner Webb. Didn’t realize he is still playing. Of course he scored their only run. Former Niners seem to always rise to the occasion against us. Let’s keep the momentum going against Memphis.
