Yes, expectations are low, deservedly so…but I’m stunned by Appy’s fall from grace…not necessarily surprised by it.

App is adding on to stadium not realizing that with no NIL that they will continue to fall

Wonder if that will affect Kelly’s role as a consultant to Memphis this season.

App picked 6th of 7 in their division of the Sun Belt.

We really need to beat them this season.

Phillips is on record wanting to expand the CFP field to whatever it takes to get 2 ACC teams in the field, no matter how many teams that requires.

Yeah that was painful to look at. Saw it but didn’t feel like posting.

Yeah very painful.

however. These predictions can lag behind reality especially in the G6.

I would place a bet that Albin puts together a better season than that chart reflects.

Let me pull up Charlotte’s profile and schedule at the same time.

Here’s my honest read on the 2026 Charlotte 49ers.

The Team at a Glance
Charlotte’s overall offense grades at 10.3/20, defense at 9.2/20, and special teams are a real concern at just 5.1/20. Their one genuine bright spot is passing offense (13.6/20), which is the strongest unit on the roster. The offensive line (9.3/20) is a problem — you can’t build a consistent winner when your front is that thin, and their OL averages just 310 lbs. Head coach Tim Albin’s seat is listed as ā€œSafe,ā€ but his coaching impact score is modest.

Schedule Breakdown (2026)

WK OPPONENT SITE OUTLOOK
1 The Citadel Home Win
2 Ole Miss Away Loss
3 App State Away Tough
4 Louisiana Home Winnable
5 Memphis Home Loss-lean
6 North Texas Away Winnable
7 Temple Away Winnable
9 Tulane Home Loss-lean
10 UAB Away Coin flip
11 East Carolina Home Winnable
12 Tulsa Away Winnable
13 Navy Home Winnable

My Take

Three wins is absolutely the floor, not the ceiling — and I think they clear it. The Citadel at home in Week 1 is a near-freebie. From there, you’re circling Temple, North Texas, Tulsa, and Navy as the most realistic targets on the American Athletic schedule. They only need two of those four to get to three wins.

The real question is whether Tim Albin can get to 5–7 and bowl eligibility. That passing offense (13.6/20) is legitimate and could carry them in shootouts against comparable AAC competition. But that 5.1/20 special teams grade is the kind of thing that costs you a game you shouldn’t lose — and in a 12-game slate, that matters.

Bottom line: 3 wins? Yes. 4–5 wins is probably the realistic range. Getting to 6 (bowl eligible) would require the offense to mask the OL issues consistently, and that’s a harder ask
