49er gear hunting

I was doing some Xmas shopping at lunch at the mall, so I stopped in Champs & Lids to check out the logo gear. I had a feeling that I may have even talked to one of our posters working at Champs.

What I found:

At Champs:

 • A couple of UNC prefix T-Shirts. I actually like this shirt, and I own a grey one. But I’m not buying any more prefix gear.

 • A very nice looking green hoodie. No prefix. About the only gripe I could have about it is that the green was a couple of shades lighter than ours. It still looked good though. Too bad I detest hooded sweatshirts. I might buy one anyway.

And, I got a phone number for us to call:

CHAMPS Customer Service - 800-991-4725

Keep in mind that the guy at the store told me the same thing we’ve heard here. They stock what Nike tells them they can stock. He did say they’d love to carry a Nike 49ers jersey because they think it would sell really well. If you call, please keep that in mind and communicate that you’re a fanw ho wants to spend $, so would they please tell Nike?

Also at Lids - I saw the same hats they’ve had for a while. But they also have 3 different T’s. All prefix shirts, but I liked the designs a lot. Might break my rule and give it to someone.

Anyway, we do have gear out there if you want it.

they have t-shirts at Lids? sorry, no prefixes for me.

If anyone is interested BJ’s has a nice green hooded sweatshirt (no prefix) for ~$22.

Did you end up picking up one of those LutzFan? I thought they were really nice for something you'd find at a warehouse club. And you can't beat that price.

Four or five different T-shirts at Finish Line. No Prefixes! Right color grean. And a green hoodie with just Charlotte on it. No logos. Just Charlotte.

I have seen the hoodie at Champs. It is good looking but the color is horrible.

While on topic of Niner products…

You guys with kids don’t forget to that Bed, Bath and Beyond has those really nice 49er basketball hoop sets. I mentioned this around this time last year and noticed that the one on S. Blvd. and in Concord Mills both have them again for $19.99. They’re very cool and would make a junior 49er fan (or even an adult Niner fan) very happy this Christmas.

The Finish Line I work at is Carolina Place in Pineville. I worked last night and all the college T’s are 2 for $15. But who cares about the other schools. You can’t beat that deal. They have 4 or 5 different 9er shirts.

Thanks JCL, I’ll have to pick up a couple.

What do you mean by “hoop sets”?
What do you mean by "hoop sets"?

They’re these pretty nice indoor hoop sets that consist of a backboard, rim, net, rubber ball and pump. They’re NOT your typical, cheap toy sets you normally see at Walmart. The backboard is probably about 24" or so across and is covered in a really nice Niner background. The ball is probably the size of a grapefruit and it too has the Niner colors/logos on it. It’s very sharp looking actually and whoever makes them did a great job. I’m far from being a kid and I wouldn’t mind having one in my computer room actually but they would definitely be a great gift for the 14 and younger Niner fan demographic. And just in case your kids haven’t been converted yet, they do also have some ACC schools. <_<

And the ones at Concord Mills are displayed on the wall facing the interior entrance. You can’t miss 'em and it’s nice to walk in and see all those Niner backboards hanging up…one of the first things you notice when you walk in. The ones at the B,B and B on S. Blvd. are over on the left side of the store, center of aisle, by the bath stuff.

My roommate here got a hoop set at the start of the year. Hope to get another one for my brother over the holidays. GO NINERS!!!

I just got back from a trip to the Carolina Place mall. I find it hard to believe that the place has more 49er gear than Concord Mills but low and behold it does. How does that work? The place fartherst from campus has the most NINER gear.

Baffled.

I contacted Nike some time ago about 49ers gear (when I first saw the article in the paper about the deal between Charlotte and Nike), and here’s the response I got:

“Unfortunately, there are no Charlotte 49ers apparel available at this time. There may be a chance that product will become available later this season and this would most likely be available through the university bookstore or local stores. Please keep checking with these locations.”

Maybe if enough people start demanding jerseys, hats, shorts, etc., they’ll start making some. Here’s the page:

Great post. Thanks Hollywood. I’ll be contacting them.
