49ers on Charlotte Sports Radio

#1

I am starting this thread as a place where we, especially those outside the Charlotte market, can go to find out when the 49ers are discussed on the local sports radio stations.

For those who regularly listen to Charlotte sports radio, if you can post links or just general information here, I would greatly appreciate it.

If Judy sparks the name change, we owe her a thank you.

When I talked at coaches caravan it was one of the things we discussed. She said our official name hinders us when looking at conferences but that she had done all she could.

Well, not having football didn’t help.

Makes branding tough too with recruits giving us so many different names when they get an offer/commit. I believe she did try, just wish she had made her thoughts public sooner on wanting the name change.

She has referenced the name confusion being an issue for years. It’s one area where I’ll definitely give Judy some credit. There is only so much she can do as an athletic director with regards to naming though, especially when her boss loves getting confused with Chapel Hill.

I agree, she deserves credit for changing the name in athletics 17 years ago. Very true, probably had her hands tied, but until yesterday I never knew she favored a name change for the University itself. Was nice to hear.

Garcia and Bailey are doing the Top 5 sports moments in Charlotte history, and yesterday was our 1977 Final Four run. They played the 1977 ABC news segment on us and the the City of Charlotte and then interviewed Cornbread Maxwell. I didn’t hear all of it, but he was pushing for Dinkins to get a spot on our new staff.
