#62!?!? What the F**K!?

Someone send the link to Bobby Lutz. It’ll be good motivation in the locker room.

His reply:

Geez, I guess I sound like I work for Disney (ESPN) or something. I got used to being nice. No question on the talent level of Charlotte. They are more talented then Marquette. At this time last year Missouri was more talented then Okie State. That's why we play the games and that's why we love college hoops. I want Baldwin to prove he can lead the team. He'll get a chance and he could do it, but I want to see it for more then one game. Baldwin is a great defender but he's inheriting the floor leadership role. I don't think his playmaking skills are good enough to become that guy.

Getting the team playing as a unit and they’ll be fine. I don’t know
anything different then any of you guys, but I just don’t like Charlotte to
go dancing again. I like Diener to step up for his last year at Marquette,
I like Squeaky in UAB as a solid floor leader…for example. I see
Charlotte as a team that could underachieve. All the names that are
floating around are solid players. Talent isn’t a problem. Charlotte gets
to the Sweet Sixteen and I’ll have more respect for Lutz.

I don’t really care who has them ranked where. People rank teams
different…teams surprise, teams disappoint. I throw my opinion into the
mix.

Just one man’s opinion. I wouldn’t stop reading CHN as much because one guy
thinks Charlotte isn’t a tourney team or my article wasn’t as good as you
would have liked. There are other writers on the site who have very little
to do with me.

ALRIGHT!!! I HAVE HAD ENOUGH! I think there has been plenty of adequate responses to this guys predictions for the Niners. However, will the next dsigruntled Niner fan who writes him please correct him on one thing? He writes (and this is just from his last reply to NA):
– They are more talented then Marquette.
– At this time last year Missouri was more talented then Okie State.
– He’ll get a chance and he could do it, but I want to see it for more then one game.
– I don’t know anything different then any of you guys, but I just don’t like Charlotte to go dancing again.

The correct word to be used here is THAN, not then! Holy Smokes, how did the kid ever pass his English classes? “A is greater than B.”, “X is better than Y.” NOT THEN!!! Then what? Geez, I would write the guy myself, but THEN I might sound a little agitated…

I think it is interesting that he says “I don’t know anything different then any of you guys, but I just don’t like Charlotte to go dancing again.” Well, um, apparently you do know something different than the rest of us… that they will not be as good as we think they will be. We all know that can’t be write!

(Man, I gotta lay off the caffeine.)

What did the niners do last year? Thier first place tie was with about half the conference, and didnt win a post season game. The last few years they haven’t exceeded any expectations.

I don’t know what everyone is so upset about. This guys is just giving his opinion and telling him he is wrong is absurd. Nobody knows where we will finish this season and he is just doing his job.
I know some of you are all worked up because of some inaccuracies or omissions in the write up, however I get the feeling that is he picked us to finish first in cusa and to go to the final four, nobody would be emailing him.

The #62 is adding insult to injury.

But you’re right. It is a waste of time to go off on him. I guess I just had nothing better to do yesterday.

If he was talking about the ACC being that loaded and apologizing for making one of those teams #7 in the conference, then he'd at least acknowledge the strength of the league by ranking that #7 team in the top 30. Put it this way, if it were, for instance, Maryland we were talking about, does anyone here doubt they'd be top 30?

The ACC will be that loaded again and the 7th place team may well be top 30. However, if you are trying to imply that CUSA is on par with the ACC then you are mistaken. CUSA has not performed in the NCAA’s like the ACC has recently. Charlotte needs a sweet sixteen appearance before you guys complain too much about a #62 ranking. The sweet sixteen appearance predicted by Athlon could be just as ridiculous. I imagine you guys will land somewhere in the middle. A NCAA invite, top 4 CUSA, and a top 35-40 finish.

1969: America lands man on the Moon

American Neil Armstrong has become the first man to walk on the Moon.
The astronaut stepped onto the Moon’s surface, in the Sea of Tranquility, at 0256 GMT, nearly 20 minutes after first opening the hatch on the Eagle landing craft.

His colleague Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin watched from inside the lunar module and spoke the first words of man on the Moon: “Tranquillity base. The Eagle has landed.”

As he put his left foot down first Mr Armstrong declared: “That’s one small step for man but one giant leap for mankind.”

He described the surface as being like powdered charcoal and the landing craft left a crater about a foot deep.

‘We came in peace’

The historic moments were captured on television cameras installed on the Eagle and turned on by Armstrong.

Armstrong spent his first few minutes on the moon taking photographs and soil samples in case the mission had to be aborted suddenly.

He was joined by Aldrin at 0315 GMT and the two collected data and performed various exercises - including jumping across the landscape - before planting the Stars and Stripes flag at 0341 GMT.

They also unveiled a plaque bearing President Nixon’s signature and an inscription reading: “Here men from the planet earth first set foot upon the Moon July 1969 AD. We came in peace for all mankind.”

After filming their experience with a portable television camera the astronauts received a message from the US President.

President Nixon, in the White House, spoke of the pride of the American people and said: “This certainly has to be the most historic telephone call ever made.”

Many other nations - including the UK - sent messages of congratulation.

Moscow Radio announced the news solemnly in its 1030 GMT broadcast.

As Aldrin and Armstrong collected samples, Michael Collins told mission control in Houston he had successfully orbited the Moon in the mother ship Columbia, and take-off was on schedule for 1750 GMT this evening.

Has anyone emailed Buzz or Neil to see where they think we will finish in Conference USA???

Yea, last year the ACC was just average and they lost all their good players anyway  Enjoy your little dreamworld Nineradvocate.

Michael Collins has us pegged for the Elite 8, taking down a Duke squad of much deplete in the process.

I don't know about Buzz or Neil, but word on the street is that Nixon has tried to contact Coach Lutz with his suggestion for this season's starting point guard.

If Nixon can pull that one off, then I will really be impressed!

Good thing you put that sarcastic rolly-eye thingy in there! B)

Putting words (Or rather conference initials) in my mouth Nineradvocate? That’s just wrong man! :flame:

I think #62 is too high for you.

You don’t have a proven point guard, are weak at center, Plavich is overrated and grossly inconsistent, and Withers will have to carry the load by himself.

I was surprised that they picked NIT, especially when Athlon’s picked you to go to the Sweet 16.

One thing I didn’t understand was Louisville being picked to play in the championship game. They have great talent but they have underachieved for the past few seasons.

I’m going to put the smack down and say this: We’re better than last year.

It’ll get settled on the court. I’ll be in Birmingham to see it.
I’m sure plenty of good seats will be available.

true about the point guard but for the first time in years we actually have a point guard running the point instead of a shooting guard, larry bird couldn’t hit 30 footers with someone in his face all the time if he has a little room he is in the top 5 shooters in the country, weak at center, compared to who nobody is strong at center in college, withers is a top 15 player.
We have three future nba guys on the team(unless iti decides he would rather play at a juco instead of the nba, i didn’t say he was smart) ej, iti, and withers, and eddie basden is better than two of them.

I think we have two great college players, and one of them is potential NBA right now.

The only way Iti is potential NBA is if he gets his head straight, the same way Butter COULD have been a potential NBA player.

Plav is inconsistent, but hopefully we won’t have to rely on him this year. We should have enough scorers that he should never HAVE to take 12 three pointers a game.

I agree that Mitch is unproven at point, I just think he can get the job done well. I really wish we could have started Mitch at point two years ago, I think we’d be a completely different team now. It’s amazing how Curtis Nash can still hurt us this far down the road.

I think Mitch will still have some growing pains early, because he really doesn’t have a lot of experience in big games. If he does as well as I think he can, then we’ll be great. If he ends up playing like our last two point guards, we could be terrible. I think Eddie and Curtis are good enough to make us a solid team, but that’s what we have to be. The guys have to accept Mitch, Brendan has to reign in his trigger finger, Iti needs to become a better all-around player and our backups have to come in and do what they are supposed to, we don’t need anyone thinking they are a superstar on the bench (even if one day they will be).
