A10 and the RPI

The A-10 needs to get its act together on this RPI thing, and that includes us. We got an 8 seed and a 14 seed. CUSA did better, and the MVC, i dont even want to talk about it.
Scheduling obviously needs to be done better by George Washington if they want to improve their seeding, yes the publicity and magic of a winning season is nice but having two losses on your season against inferior teams will get you a second round shot at #1 Duke only an hour from the campus. Their impresive record could have carried the RPI for the league better had they played someone. Are they a good team? Yes. Could they have had a very similar record and played maybe a team or two with 5 more wins at the end of the season? Absolutely. Sorry but (323) St. Francis PA, (329) Morgan St, (319) Maryland Eastern Shore, and (310) Stony Brook dont cut it, not to mention the handful of 200 plus RPI teams I saved time by not mentioning. A 323 of 334 out of conference strenth of schedule does not cut it
(290) St. Bonaventure and (308) Duquesne need to be shown the door, they should have been shown it when St. Louis and Charlotte came into the league. You are both sorry teams that still had terrible out of conference strength of schedules. The very fact that they each had around 20 losses is enough to pad another teams RPI. Richmond almost got into the 100’s and they are terrible.
Finally, I put the ball in our court. No more (239) NC Asheville. No more (238) Portland or (244) Georgia St. No more tournaments with a team like (215) Coppin St.. And most imporantly, go out there, win some games next season.

well fu(kin’ said…

Makes sense to me.

I’m still shocked about GW’s seed. I know there schedule sucked, but come on, 26-2 is still 26-2.

The A-10 sucks

RPI=37 Now Divide by 4 = 9.25 8<9.25 GW got a little help.
The A-10 sucks
yes

Tell this to all that said the A-10 was much better than C-USA

The bottom line is that 1. the A10 is young, 2. A10 teams need to play better OOC schedules and 3. A10 teams need to win more OOC games while not losing to really bad OOC teams.

#1 will change. #2 can change. #3 may or may not change.

We certainly didn’t help out the A10 with all our crappy losses and GW did nothing for us by playing an OOC SOS ranked 323. The great thing about the “old” CUSA is that the teams went out and played tough OOC schedules. So when we entered conference play, we were already sitting around 50-60 in RPI and had multiple games against Cincy, L’ville, Marquette, etc. who all had top 20 RPI’s (usually) so our RPI could further improve down into the 30’s come March. That’s simply not the case now. In the A10, there aren’t enough teams bringing in super RPI’s come conference play. So you gain very little, if anything, when you start beating up on each other.

To have success in this league, teams are gonna have to schedule better competition and win some of those games. Otherwise, we’ll gonna go through this same scenario year after year. Sad but true.

CUSA was better than the A10 but now I dont know. They’ve got Memphis and UAB and thats about it. Everyone else doesnt seem that great. Last year it had us, Cinci, Louisville, Marquette, in addition to Memphis, UAB, and maybe a few other mentionables. Now the A10 has us, GW, temple, xavier, and the others could be close to being mentioned here. So yes CUSA was better last year, but had we stayed it would have been a bad decision. IMHO, A10>CUSA now.

And I totally agree, OOC SOS must improve or we are all doomed.

Zach Morris, I LOVE YOU!!!

Houston was ranked earlier in the season and UTEP is a solid program. CUSA is made up of large southern public universities simular to Charlotte. A-10 is made up of mostly small private catholic schools in the northeast. We are like the odd man out and you can see how well the transition took place this year. Also CUSA is better in other sports outside of basketball and has D-1 football (if we ever start a program).

CUSA is newer and through us and the teams that left for the big east gained a lot of respect. The a-10 is somewhat of a joke on the East coast b/c its not the Big East or the ACC

CUSA has baseball and football, A10 has… Lutz

CUSA also kicked our *ss out the door.

cusa kicked us out? i thought we chose to go to the A10.

The writing was on the wall and it said FOOTBALL. So the two non-football schools left in CUSA knew what they had to do…

The A10 also needs to get rid of Duquesne and St Bonnie. 14 teams is too many.
