Went to Grok to see where we were tuition wise in the NC system. We are right in the middle and lower than State, App, Wilmington, Greensboro, CHeat, Asheville, and ECU. We are high in Room and Board but have more alternatives than most.
Why not raise it $100 and get an extra 3 mil for sports?
Tuition funds can’t go athletics like that by state law. It has to be thru fees and our fees are high nearly equal to tuition which is insane to me. Pretty sure we are over $800 for athletics per year at this point.
Is tuition included in the figures above? Usually I see tuition broken out but here is in included in fees?

I’ve given up on this question. At this point I’m just assuming the most we will ever get is half of what the legacy members are getting. Apparently that is what we signed up for.
No, its not……we agreed to a gradual increase which would at some point (IIRC—4-5 years down the road) become a full share.
Yeah, like I said, I’m just assuming until I see something that says different. All I’ve heard is speculation and it seems like no one knows for sure.
Well, I’m an idiot. It’s plain as day. Must have been before I had my coffee this morning. Regardless, you guys in NC have no idea how lucky you are to have such affordable college tuition.
This concept of going away to school is so ridiculous when you look at the costs. 15k for that that rolls into a loan is obscene and stupid.
7k for tuition and fees plus books - times 4 is doable especially if you work part time and finish school with a modest loan. This american model though of going out and paying for everything with student loans drives these 100K plus loans.
Anyway - we cant expect to raise anymore funds thru the athletic fee.
Those are great points. I would not be shocked if the American cuts us loose unless we show something to deserve our full share
Conference affiliation is overwhelmingly about TV markets. The American isn’t going to turn its back on the Charlotte media market.
Nobody watches the Niners lose in this “market”.
It’s not about us, its about having a conference presence in the market. It opens up sponsorships and corporate communities for conference and other schools. Tampa based USF gets to sell sponsorships that will reach customers and alums from Annapolis to Charlotte to Dallas. We don’t have to delver the market - better if we do, but the conference having a presence here helps all member institutions.
In the old day it was also tied to carriage fees, but I think thats way less of a thing now.

The 49ers better wake up or learn to be grateful for the scraps that fall down to the perineal bottom feeders.

If you look at the $7.1 million the 49ers will pay Healy, Poggi and Hill after their terminations. Ai says student athletic fees are about $280 per year. If accurate, that means 25,000 students cover the $7.1 million in wasted severance $$ in one year.
