Good candidate, it is nice to see guys like this filling out our list rather than Shayatt and Odom.

Where was he from 2001-2004?

He was at Xavier (01-04) with Matta and jumped to OSU with him.

Wouldn’t mind seeing him take over as head coach. Looks like he does pretty good work with power forwards and centers.

Major’s first tenure with Pacific lasted three seasons, from 1995-98. In that time, he helped the program to the NCAA tournament in 1997 behind the play of the NBA’s No. 1 draft pick Michael Olowokandi. Major, who coaches the front court players at Ohio State, also worked with Greg Oden, the No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, Kosta Koufos, the 23rd pick of the 2008 NBA Draft, B.J. Mullens, the 24th pick of the 2009 NBA Draft, David West the 18th pick of the 2003 NBA Draft, and Terence Dials, the 2006 Big Ten Player of the Year.

Once the alarmist candidates died down and we got to the real people, I have felt we were targeting really good coaches. I’m excited about the future of the program.

What do you guys think about Alan Major? Not much discussion here.

Hmmmm Why do you ask?

Followed Matta through a lot of success and has done very well as a recruiter. Definitely an intriguing candidate…

From what you guys are not saying, he must now be the front runner. Positives are that he knows the A10 and the recruiting area. He seems to mold winning programs. I would like to know other intangibles such as how he handles the media, alumni and promoting the program. For right now, only the hiring “committee” knows and we will have to trust them.

Hmm, I wonder how he likes Charlotte?

Not much info out there on him.

I like him. Successful recruiter, has A-10 connections and knows the league.

He is a good candidate. I think Kelsey is a potential home run (or potential bust), but the potential has moved him to the top of our list (and by “our” I mean NNN). Major, Springmann and Dooley are really all pretty similar to me, Dooley has a few years HC experience, but other than that they are all good recruiters are top programs, I’m fine with whichever one we end up getting.

I want whichever candidate puts talent in our uniforms (especially guards) and reinvigorates our program and fanbase.

Agree that Alan Major is a good candidate.

What are the feelings toward Jeff Battle? He was(is?) a current candidate for the Marshall job (and others). Jeff Goodman tweeted today that Battle was the 1st choice to replace Prosser at Wake but Gaudio was selected instead after Battle “withdrew because his wife was battling cancer”

2002-Current (9th season) – Associate Head Coach, Wake Forest
1995-2001 (7 seasons) – Assistant Coach, Xavier
1994 (1 season) – Assistant Coach, Loyola (MD)
1991-93 (3 seasons) – Assistant Coach, Delaware State

At Xavier, Battle was instrumental in the Musketeers' success from 1995 through 2001. During his seven seasons at Xavier, the Musketeers won 20 games or more six times while advancing to postseason play six times, including five NCAA Tournament appearances. Xavier averaged more than 21 wins per season during Battle's tenure on the sidelines.

While we are throwing out names, I can’t believe Vince Taylor hasn’t gotten more attention. One of the best recruiters in the country at Louisville (which means he knows our program a bit from the CUSA days), he has NBA experience and has done well at Minnessota for Tubby the past couple of years.

Mark “The Shark” Titus, of Club Trillion fame has written about Alan Major in his blog: Link

Colby would need to protect his water bottle.

Ohio State coach falls trying to slap his player - funny!

Winner!
