Just saw an interview on the news as they prepare for their 2nd straight title game for 1AA Football.
He said that enrollment is way up and that applications are way up including double the number of applications from their under represented populations. This was all in the context of him talking about the impact of the teamās success on the university.
Maybe Chancellor Pea**** should talk with DuBois.
Then again, this news is nothing surprising. Common sense really. But we will pay 1/4 million bucks $$$ to a firm in Iowa to feed us some crap on branding.
Are we having problems with enrolment?
Yeah. All weāre getting are applicatons from pimply-faced, drunk losers who spend most of their time playing video games and fantasy sports, or on sports message boards, or āentertaining themselvesā on porn sites.

I donāt think football is going to change that, especially the drunk loser part. It would be just another opportunity to do just that. It would break them away from the Jenna Jameson aviās for awhile though. :wow: :mallet:
When applications go up you get better quality, it is common sense.
A university that has a successful football program will increase exposure to the school and interest from prospective students. Particularly, out of state students, which bring a higher dollar.
This is all common sense, except to Judy and Dr. Phil.
I emailed Appās chancellor, here is the email and response. I am suprised that he did not defend DuBois at all. He didnāt even mention anything negative about football. I encourage each of you to send him and email.

I am an alumni of UNC Charlotte. As you are well aware we do not have a football team. I saw you on TV (in HD on ESPN) and I really appreciated the things you said for the program you have in Boone. I was happy to hear from a Chancellor that actually was in tune with his students and saw the benefits that an athletic program can have for students and alumni. I wish that, that was something that we had at UNC Charlotte, unfortunately we do not and probably havenāt had for a while.
I wish you the best of luck in the future, and of course next Saturday. App is a great school, and I had a number of friends that graduated from there. Charlotte had engineering, otherwise App would have been my choice.
Go Niners, and Go Mountaineers!

Thanks for your kind words. I am proud of Appalachian State. These are
exciting times on this campus as our Mountaineers will go for 2 on
Friday evening. Let there be no doubt about it, I enjoy Game Days at
Appalachian. Perhaps you can join us next year for a football game, my
guest, and share your enthusiasm for football at the Rock. We would be
honored to have you join us and cheer for the Mountaineers. You will
certainly be welcome. Just let me know.
I am confident that UNC Charlotte prepared you well for your
profession. UNCC is a great university and means a great deal to the
UNC System.
Again, I thank you for your kind and encouraging words. On Friday, pull
for the Appalachian State Mountaineers!

For some reason, this chancellor sounds more intelligent by using simple, to-the-point language than our chancellor - who enjoys his āword of the dayā thesaurus daily calender a bit too much and tries to talk you into circles.
Thatās quite an offer he gave, too! Is he hooking you up with some good seats?

I doubt he means much by it. I guess i need to just stay in touch with him and seriously try to go. The least i would like is to get a group of us and have lunch with him on gameday then go watch a football game.
Heck, Iām going to Chatanooga on Friday to pull for Appā¦ Iāll tell the Chancellor all you guys said āHallooo!ā Wife graduated from ASU, and my best friend has two degrees from there. Last App game I saw in person was the 2005 Championship game, so maybe I am good luck for themā¦

The Danāl Boone Inn is worth the trip. My family used to stop and eat there at least twice yearly on trips to the mountains. Itās been ages since Iāve been though, anyone up for a road trip?
