Are you optimistic about 49ers football under Albin?

The schedule hasn’t been that tough thus far. We’ve played 1 good team.

Yes, still like Albin. However, do not like the OC inability to make good calls with the players he has and also, I don’t think Albin realized the strength on the American Conference.

thank you.

Ha, we might be married to Albin but we are still paying alimony to Biff…..

Here’s a question, I am searching the AAC bylaws, does a team have to pay an exit feet to go to a lesser conference so their coach can win? SMU had to pay to go to a higher conf. I am also looking at the MAC and Sunbelts bylaws if they will cover part or do we have to get someone to take our place?

Exit fees are fairly standard practice, though they definitely vary widely from conference to conference.

Just be thankful we are in The American. I’d rather get the financial deal and games on linear ESPN. We weren’t much better in a weaker CUSA with almost no TV money and less exposure.

Exactly this.

Why be thankful? we are in last place in the AAC. In the ESPN bottom 10 every week, thank god for UMASS. We are everyone’s Family day and homecoming game, because no-one wants to lose those games. Nothing against Albin, that is his and his staff’s comfort zone, that’s the players he recruits, the MAC, CUSA, Sunbelt etc. Exposure works both ways in recruiting

Over half his roster is what Biff left behind. If Biff’s staff had recruited better depth and developed players on his bench we would be in a lot better shape. Sure Albin missed on some recruits but he was starting with very little talent and didn’t force players out like Biff and a lot of coaches do these days. In hindsight that was probably a mistake but I think he didn’t want to split the locker room like we had in Biff’s first season. Hopefully he knows now what needs to be done to upgrade the roster this off season.

Didn’t we bring in 70+ new players? We only have 105 total

Okay not quite half but close to it are Biff’s players. And someone in our AD apparently misinterpreted that 105 limit so we started out at a disadvantage from day 1.

clt says don’t trust AI

it uses chat pages like this for info. if enough people made comments like “ Margot Robbie is a Charlotte 49ers fan”, it would use that.

Okay this was from Charlotte49ers.com

There doesn’t appear to be any other path forward right now other than supporting the coach we have right now.

So I’m not sure why we are wasting our breath on this specific topic if Albin.

I’m optimistic because other cellar dweller teams have been brought out of the doldrums before and it will happen again and we can we one of them.

If we hired someone incapable of recruiting at an AAC level, then we have failed utterly. Let’s see how he adjusts in year two, I’m hoping now he knows the caliber of athlete required.

If anyone is under any illusions about our ability to compete in the Sun Belt App is a middle of the pack team this year in that conference. We were not competitive against them.

I am optimistic because Albin has shown in the past he can turn a program around in the second and third year. No that doesn’t mean he will here but he has done it before.

Reality is, if things turn around next year, this season will be forgotten quickly. This hasn’t been a fun year obviously but it’s Albin’s first season here, not his 13th. He’s not responsible for all the crap we’ve been through over the years.

Recruiting looks good so far. Going to have to upgrade the OL and DL though.

I’m getting sleeper vibes re: the West Charlotte WR (Nicholson).

I totally agree on nicholson. He looks really good. I imagine our biggest adds have to be portal guys, like with most teams. We need to get bigger, better and more physical at the LOS

Definitely have to hit on some portal transfers especially in the trenches, can’t rely on too many true freshmen.
