Baldwin hurt again

Mitch said tonight that he will probably be playing wednesday

you can bet that coach will keep his status a mystery. remember the diego injuries before the cincy game?

Any official word on Mitch’s status for Wednesday? According to Chisox it sounds like he wants to go, but will the trainers let him? I would be surprised if they cleared him to play only 4 days after dislocating his shoulder, but it sure would be nice to have him out there.

According to the Yahoo article BigTime just posted, he is out for the Cincy game.

From the article:

The 49ers will be without point guard Mitchell Baldwin when they try for a 10th straight win in a visit to No. 20 Cincinnati on Wednesday.

Baldwin dislocated his shoulder late in the first half on Saturday as Charlotte (12-2, 3-0 Conference USA) beat Saint Louis 65-59. He will be sidelined for at least one week.

Losing Mitch, that's a big loss for us,'' Charlotte coach Bobby Lutz said. We don’t know how long he will be out.‘’

yea and they also said we lost to Bama by 2 so take it for what it’s worth.

The 49ers are hoping Curtis Withers, who averages 14.4 points, will still be productive without Baldwin to get him the ball. Withers scored all 13 of his points in the second half Saturday after Baldwin departed.

I wonder if they realized what they were writing when they wrote it.

I say give Lee a shot. No one knew what Mitch could really do last year against Louisville, but that turned out pretty good. Get him calmed down and to look for his shot a little less and see what he can do.

But I expect we will see a lot of Eddie, Plav, Drayton, Withers and Nance on the court. Whoever is out there, I hope they use Mitch as a rallying point rather than a reason to get down. We aren’t suppossed to beat Cinci regardless, but without our starting PG we should have no shot, hopefully the guys will go ahead and make a huge statement tomorrow night.

I just talked to Mitch. They just got to Cincinatti and his shoulder is feeling a lot better. Said he’ll probably practice passing or shooting or something today to see how it is. Still up in the air til’ gametime though.

I say, deliver me from Swedish furniture!

Didn’t Colson suffer from a Dislocated Shoulder one of his seasons?

Man I wish I had the connections some of you do. I would guess it's still pretty doubtful for him to start.

From my buddy who is an Ortho Resident (and Niner of course). I asked about the chances of Mitchell playing:

normally you need 1-2wks rest, some come come back in several days. Dr.
Flieschli repaired it after 1st time b/c it would not go back in and it
was unstable, so tighten that mofo up. unfort, when it happens once, it can
happed again. the one good thing is it went back in easy right after it
happened.

as for return, the endpoint is comfort; however, rest is needed for
capsule/rotators/etc to heal up to regain strength, stability, range of
motion, etc.

as a pt gaurd, he has better chance of returning sooner (no bangin down
low), but cincy will intentionally go after him. if he is not 80-90%,
Dr. F will probably rec he not start to prevent further injury and risk of
season.

Don’t mind his ghetto typing skills, he’s as good as a resident you’ll ever see.

they just showed an interview with lutz that was done on our channel 19, which carries the bearcats. he said baldwin was out for tomorrow and your other guys have to step up.

fwiw.
