I imagine this means you voted for whoever the other person was, probably a wholesome American-bred white girl since I don’t think one of those has won in a while. I’ll have you know I’m a huge fan of wholesome, American-bred white girls. I even like Debbie Gibson. So there.
No. Not even close. He basically took songs and" played them a little darker and a lot more understated" and was treated like the next coming of John Lennon. But hey I do not belong in this thread anyways since I am currently listening to “Trace” by Sun Volt
as I type (and am thinking that it is the greateast album Neil Young could never make) so what do I know.
I don’t think ALL songs deserve this treatment. But the taboo content of “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” makes it more effective for me when it’s done a little darker.
Incidentally, I really liked Son Volt’s cover of “Hello, Goodbye” by The Beatles. That one isn’t better than the original, but it’s still really good.
Hey, what if Son Volt did a cover of “Electric Youth”?
Jakob Dylan’s solo debut Seeing Things is actually pretty good. I wasn’t crazy about the Wallflowers, so I didn’t expect to like this one much, but I do.
Has anyone mentioned James Morrison. His music is great! You tube some of his live performances, one of the best live that I have seen. His undiscovered album was an 07 debut but imo had no bad or “so so” songs, they were all good. He is scheduled to have a new album out july/aug. If im not wrong, he was one of John Mayers opening acts for Johns summer tour last year. Good music.
Whats the latest on good ol amy winehouse? Isn’t she on her death bed? Tis a shame, she has a great voice. Never thought I’d compare anyone to whitney houston, but both her and amy have great voices, just too tempted by the crack rock!
Say NO to crack! Unless of course its a honie with a ba-donk-a-donk!

In something of a miracle, she performed yesterday at Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday bash in Hyde Park…
Cute Is What We Aim For, Alanis Morrissette, and Lil’ Wayne all had decent but not as good as one might expect albums come out. So that’s something. The real surprise of this year so far for me is Scarlett Johansson’s album of Tom Waits covers, although I guess it’s not too difficult to make Tom Waits sound good when you can bring in an element of sultriness, thus instantly creating a fresh perspective on them. Tom Waits is many great things, but sultry is not among them.
John Mayer- Where the Light Is. Excellent Live album recorded last year in LA. He played an acoustic set, a set with the bluesy John Mayer Trio and a third set with the full band. Absolutely wails on the electric.
OAR- All Sides. Although they seem to be veering away from their signature frat rock/jam band sound, just about every song on this more generic rock album is good.
I like it. I think I heard them on TV once. Maybe it was a movie. - ?
I think the third song is from a movie I saw. I like the song, but I’m changing my mind. I’m not sure I like the record. That guy’s voice reminds me of the tranny from Silence of the Lambs for some reason. I don’t like his voice.
