So, we can be 2nd best, 2nd worst and everything in between? Damn the A10 and its craziness

i'm terrible at math, but if we win 2 and lose one can we still finish in the top four? i just cant figure it out with how weird the tie-breaker situations are.

If all predictions other than ours are correct, no we will not. the three teams behind us will all have a better record than we would, them being 9-7 us being 8-8

thanks for the clarification :)

EDIT: 1st post updated

Here is an update. The final standings could look like this:

15-1 Xavier (9) 13-1 (@ St.Joe’s, Rich)
9-7 St. Joseph’s 8-5 (Temple, Xavier, @Dayton) <—would Dayton be a win??
9-7 Temple 8-5 (@St.Joe’s, Duq, @La Salle)
9-7 La Salle 8-6 (@Mass, @Temple)
9-7 Massachusetts 8-6 (La Salle, GW)
8-8 Richmond 8-6 (Fordham, @Xavier)
8-8 Saint Louis 7-8 (Duquesne)
7-8* Rhode Island 7-8 (Charlotte)
7-9 Dayton 6-8 (@SBU, St. Joe’s)
7-9 Duquesne 6-8 (@Temple, Saint Louis)
7-9 Fordham 5-9 (@Richmond, SBU)
6-9* G Washington 5-9 (@Charlotte, Mass)
2-14 S. Bonaventure 2-12 (Dayton, @Fordham)

The 1st post in the thread assumes St. Joe’s beat Temple and Charlotte gets the #2 seed under that scenario. This scenario assumes that Temple beats St. Joe’s tonight.

With 2 wins, Charlotte could still get the #2 seed with the head-to-head tiebreakers vs. the 9-7 teams:

9-7 Charlotte (3-2 head-to-head record)
9-7 St. Joe’s (3-3)
9-7 Temple (3-3)
9-7 La Salle (2-2)
9-7 UMass (2-3)

Under the exact same scenario, 2 losses would give the #13 seed (and tournament elimination) to Charlotte with the head-to-head tiebreakers vs. the 7-9 teams:

7-9 Rhode Island (5-2 head-to-head record)
7-9 Dayton (3-3)
7-9 Duquesne (3-3)
7-9 George Washington (3-3)
7-9 Fordham (3-4)
7-9 Charlotte (2-4)

Is dayton a win there?

This tournament is gonna be crazy.

Win vs GW and clinch a spot in it, then hopefully, we can sneak in to the top 4 somehow. GW is fighting for their life, so I’m sure they will be coming strong.

anybody got odds on us winning the A10 Tourny?
anybody got odds on us winning the A10 Tourny?
Does anyone have the odds on where we’ll finish the regular season? This is unbelievable. With 2 games to go we can finish anywhere between 2nd and 13th.

If this were the acc, there would be almost daily front page stories on the “toughness” of the conference.

Well, before conference season started there were 4 or 5 teams prolly getting into the tourney. If URI, Dayton or X wins the conference tourney, I think that those will be the only three teams that will make it and URI and Dayton are really on the fringe.

It is amazing what this season has done for the league, you can go from 2 to 13 in a matter of 2 games. Unbelievable!!

Evidence that the perception “the A10 is a cupcake league” doesn’t wash!

Parity is the worst thing that could have happened to this league this year.

Parity is the worst thing that could have happened to this league this year.

It is unfortunate.

Actually Dayton and URI have done pretty bad lately. Most would agree that St. Joes and UMass are above URI and Dayton.
