Once again a NBA franchise displays why so many people have turned against this sport. The son of a bad coach who is coaching only because of his father can’t stay sober behind the wheel. When you start thinking of how many failures the Bobcats have had in their 2 years of playing it is easy to see why they struggle in attendance and popularity here. I guess the positive thing is he didn’t get someone else on the team killed (Phills-Wesley) or hurt (Coleman-Recanser), maybe he can get his license suspended and keep on driving (Jarod Cooper).

What “many failures” are you talking about?
This is the first personality failure that the Bobcats have had, but they have had public relations failures: CSTV (or whatever it was called), the owner doesn’t even live in Charlotte, and other stuff.
I honestly think you are overreacting and pushing it on the NBA.
You wanna talk about behavior, the Panthers have had some of the worst incidents I have ever seen in a franchise, but people still love them. The reason why it wasn’t as big a deal and didn’t turn citizens off is b/c the NFL is a better product.
Well lets see, hired a bad coach to begin with, drafted sean may just for ticket sales, the CSET disaster, the dude at the strip bar that got into a fight I believe (Melvin Ely), an absentee owner and a poor product. I love basketball and went to one Bobcats game and hated it. I was a Hornet season ticket holder and want to get into the new NBA, but I think I am too white.
I am just saying that in a town that is not really embracing you to begin with a few mis-steps like this can really cost you.
As for the Panthers, yeah they had their share of disasters, but have righted the ship and are running a very clean and upstanding franchise. The question is how will the Bobcats deal with this?

I can’t recall too many bad incidents from the Panthers. Yes there was Rae Carruth but any team could pick up a moron like that and not know. I dont think when they are going over PR stuff they say, “Dont kill anybody.” I bet they do say to behave well at clubs and what not, but the Panthers could not control that incident and I wouldnt hold it against them.

There was Carruth, Fred Lane incidents, Kerry Collins, Jarrod Cooper, even Moose?, etc. Plenty of stuff. I’m definitely not telling you to hold it against them. I’m just wondering why some would hold the same stuff against the Bobcats and not the Panthers. Like I said, probably b/c the Panthers is just a better product.

That and the Panthers didn’t cost the tax payers $350 million.

Don’t forget that for a couple years the Panthers were not that popular and were a total joke. When Seifert cleaned house his last year and then Fox came in they set a new tone and have held very tight to the character importance.

Rae Carruth (Murder)
Kerry Collins (Racial Slur, DUI)
Moose Muhammed
Jarod Cooper (DUI multiple times)
Todd Sauerbrun (Steroids)
Steve Smith (Punches out his teammate)
Id like to add another thing about a Panther that go NO publicity. How about Thomas Davis’ pitt bulls attacking several kids and a pregnant woman? If a Bobcat had a vicious dog that attacked someone, it would have been allll over the news, and people would be screaming about what a thug he was. But when a beloved Panther lets it happen, they keep it hush hush. F***ing ridiculous

I think something to keep in mind is that when you have 3 or 4 bad apples on a football team that is not anywhere near as bad as having 3 or 4 bad apples on a basketball team. That is about 20% of the entire team in basketball!
