Bill Clark was very successful at UAB and checks all the boxes except familiarity with NIL. That box is fixable with the right assistants. Hiring him makes sense but will we? Probably not.
Itās not that we think we are a stepping stone. We ARE one. Been that way for years for coaches. Now itās just players too. There is a pecking order and we arenāt anywhere near the top.
We should be a stepping stone but we have not won enough to be that.
Iād love dealing with the problem of having a coach get poached, getting buyout money, the recent success that came with it, and having a winning job to backfill.
Seconded on the last two comments.
At this point I would love to be a stepping stone for our revenue sport coaches.
That means we have had success.
Putting this here because yet another job just opened up in NC.
Mack Brown to Charlotte! The fans would love him!
Biffās friends continue to donate after he has been released⦠yea that sounds about right.
What is the latest list of coaches we are considering?
Gigantic pass on that one
Sounds like Ravin is actually the biggest NIL contributor, not biffs friends.
Part of that reason for the pecking order is those schools donāt believe they are a stepping stone. Thereās a difference between accepting someoneās decision and actively pushing someone towards making that decision. Similar to what NA said about people helping Purdie out the door.
I mean this is fandom 101. Would you rather fans from other schools say āCharlotte fans are diehard, crazy nuts. They think Charlotte is a dream jobā. Or, āCharlotte fans are fairly tame, they know their place. I donāt know why any top recruit would want to go thereā.
Well said Normmm.
At this point Iād kill to be a stepping stone. Have to be a stepping stone before you can grow into a destination. Today we are a slaughterhouse for revenue sport coaching careers.
I mean I guess you can call me delusional and that fine. but thats how I would like to make sure this program is approached. I think one of the most annoying things Iāve read online about our program is how other fans see us as a coach development program for chapel hills future coaches. it just annoys me.
I mean if we had a great coach here that was eventually picked off by a real blue blood like USC or Ohio State because they got offered a ridiculous amount of money Iām not going to be mad about that. but the idea that some college fans see us as a stepping stone program so the coach can eventually leave and lead the in state P5 school to the national title just annoys me. I suppose its also why Iāve been pushing to get a veteran coach like Dan mullens for football. I guess because I like the idea of developing our program as a place where coaches finish their career here. but thatās just me.
Now that Biff is gone, how will I know what cookies to eat?
Oh, the humanity!
I just want someone who is a serious coach and wins. Everything else is noise.
Thatās just asinine thinking on so many levels.
