That is my guess.
The fact we have not heard much means perhaps our coach is not employed right now.
And if that means Bill Clark is ready willing and able to get back into coaching and we could get him thatās a hire you make quickly.
Cross your fingers on this possibility boys.
He had an interview recently saying he was open to coming back to coach a team at UABs level or higher.
He would be a home run.
He has been heavily linked to USM job.
This. The top coaches are going to go fast and as talent goes off the board you are going to end up with leftovers. Same thing with the portal.
As soon as Mike knew firing Biff might be a possibility Iām sure he started crafting a list and quite possibly working back channels contacting agents to gauge interest. The process absolutely did not start when Biff was fired but weeks before that.
In addition, solid ADs are going to keep things locked down with coaches interviewing or permission being asked. Especially if there are recruits involved as if a coach acknowledges they have an interest in leaving there are impacts to the current program and if the coach stays thatās the last thing you want happening. Insiders with info know how much they can share without wrecking things.
During his pregame chat with Matt, Hill said everything in full swing on coaching search and that he even spent part of Thanksgiving Day dealing with aspects of the process.
Was just on commercial break of TV, said again important criteria is someone whom wants to be hereā¦.
Not sure, exactly what he means by this because he keeps stating that. Does he mean we could hire someone who doesnt want to coach here?
Pretty cool trick considering game hasnāt gotten to halftime yet.
But in all seriousness, I understand that comment. Especially after the Sanchez debacle. (I give Chastain a pass because sheās a USC alum.) Perhaps Poggi said or did something that gave Hill the impression that the former wasnāt entirely all in before getting pink slipped.
If what has been said about him being in Italy for 6 weeks this summer is true, thatās a pretty strong indictment for how little he valued the job IMO. Plus he didnāt seem too excited behind the mic this season. I certainly didnāt get the sense he was having a good time here.
Well, Biffās post dismissal tweet last weekend has to be considered as well - especially the āIt feels great to have a football homeā sentence.
Yeah it took him about a day and a half to get back to Michigan after getting fired. And thatās after waiting to come here until Michigan was finished playing in January 2 years ago. Would have been different if he was an on the field coach but his title was administrative professional. I donāt think he was ever as committed as he needed to be to make this work.
Our AD came across a bit lost in that interview today on this hireā¦ the comment of trying to find someone who wants to be here, same points he made a few weeks ago gives the impression no positive progress on a good HC candidate and the air of no sense of urgency like he is hiring the next track coach.
That all sounds to me like Brewster has a very strong shot of getting this job, lets see.
Interesting, my take from the interview was completely different. Wants someone that wants to be here, I thought he meant someone that wants to coach at this level and not wanting to come simply as a steppingstone. As far as urgency, he clearly noted the timing of earlier entry into the portal. I really donāt know why anything he said would give an indication that Brewster looked like s strong contender. Not saying you are wrong but just my take was very different.
Funny how our interim coaches have better winning percentages than our āpermanentā coaches
Brewster really selling himself, but the 2 wins he is credited with were from teams we were favored to win and should have beaten.
Yep, that .150 winning % under Fancher really impressive.
Brewster is not getting this job unless things absolutely fall apart.
Sounds like you know something. But I agree, Brewster gets credit for 2 wins, but he has not done anything extra ordinary to warrant naming him as head coach
