He told a story about when he played for NC State and went to Dayton to play. It was a crazy story but pretty much about it being a hard place to play even back then. Having stuff threw at them then getting escorted out by cops.
Billy was giving Packer hell for not giving Lutz squad more airtime. He also said the ACC was no match for the A-10 this season and not to many ACCers would have our record in A10.
Wow. This is beyond shocking. I’ve heard Mark give us love before on many occasions, but always figured it would be a cold day in hell when Billy would say anything positive about us or the A10. Very surprising and refreshing to hear that he said that.
Well, to even things out, Billy did say “luts” and was corrected by Mark that it is “lootz.” But, yeah, I was surprised to hear it, too.
He did say that THIS YEAR’s ACC was probably worse than the A10 team-for-team. The story he told about playing in Dayton was bad, kinda like when Niners fans dumped soda on the Sincy team after a game in Halton, but worse. The coolest thing about the story, though, was the differences in the rules that were in place then vs. now.
oh geez…that is NOT what happened ever—it was one fan who threw a small amount of ice in the Cincy players direction and they replied by throwing basketballs into the stands as hard as they could.
Come on now, after the basketball racks were emptied into the stands, and the PG was being refrained from running up into the crowd, there was more than one person with a little ice to dump on the players… ;D
I was behind our bench and near the tunnel and I can assure you that the Cincy players were doused with far more than ice. I would say that Packer’s account is pretty accurate. Once all the basketballs were hurled at us, it was a free for all with Niner students tossing all sorts of crap as they were going to the locker room. But yes, it was definitely started with an isolated ice throw and then Cincy took it to a whole new level.
Exactly. Maybe after the bballs were thrown-----I was right in that corner as well, beside the visitors tunnel.
