Similiar to the Coaches wearing sneakers to support CAC (even though this is not a good comparison) should black arm bands be worn in support of Huggs!? I would think UC fans would at least want to wear them.
There’s a subculture of ruling elite in college, the Brands, Zinphears, et al’s, that want to wring out any hint of professionalism from college sports, even though they are the ones profiting the most from the ill-gotten gain.

The only surprise is that Huggs wasn't dumped sooner. Guess it took a new leader at UC to care about the school's image, not just Ws and Ls.
If we had a pristine record and graduated all of our players I'd agree with you, but we don't. If we were in the top 20 every year our player issues would be bigger news.

This goes a lot deeper than graduation rates and player issues. If it was really about that he would have been fired a LONG time ago. When he got the DUI and was so drunk he couldn't hardly stand up is when I think he should have received the axe. Much like the Knight situation at Indiana, he wasn't fired for things he should have been and now the reason he's being fired is sugar coated.

The whole DUI reason reeks of a double standard. Far too many people get them, coaches included who don't get fired or catch any crap for it. I don't have one, but just because I was lucky not to get caught doesn't make me more of a stand up guy than Huggs or anyone else who has that on their resume.

I have to disagree with this, unless there's an element to the story I don't know. Knight was clearly unwilling to change at IU, and was insubordinate on several occassions preceeding his firing. Huggins complied with Goins' requirements for him to come back. Now if you want to crucify Huggins for Roy NotSoBright, fine, but then that casts Lutz as less of a saint.

If Knight would have been fired after he choked Neil Reid, few at IU would have argued. Once they let him stayand then fired him for less, then most IU fans were irate. Much the same in Cincy. Huggy should have been fired for other things. He wasn't, and now everyone is mad because of whatever they are firing him for now. That was my point. I don't claim to know all of the incidental BS that both coaches were actually fired for and wasn't saying they were identical.
Not sure about the timing of various events :cuss: :drink:  :argue: that led to this but, if they hadn’t delayed the firing/resignation, would they still have been asked to join the Big East? :ponder:
