blog entry from the "ole ball coach"

http://collegechalktalk.com/coachesDiary/iowa_state/2010-11/index

on a lighter note, good blog entry, gives great respect to his new boss who has zero coachin experience.

I nailed the Allen Iverson trivia question, that was an easy one being from VA. If you get bored youtube allen iverson playing football, amazing stuff.

From Lutz:

As I look at the first month of the season, it is strange to play so many games at home having been at Charlotte where we usually played 13 or 14 road games per season.

Welcome to the BCS coach!

Yeah, I guess I never really thought about it, but Auburn’s men’s basketball team leaves campus a grand total of one time before Christmas.

By the way, Auburn lost to UNCA at home the other night in their new arena’s inaugural game. Fail.

Good to hear from the ole softball coach.

You just can’t escape the wrath of the basketball gods can you?

I saw that on the ticker regarding the Auburn loss. I’m sure most on campus didn’t even know there was a game considering how the football team is doing these days. Of course, if that Cam Newton stuff blows up even more, that’s going to be one depressed place.

Pretty sure Robert Siler from Jordan-Matthews was Player of the Year in football and basketball. Have to do a little research but he was a baller back in the day.

'86-'87 NC Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year - http://playeroftheyear.gatorade.com/press/list/page=342/?sort=position&desc=1

I would think Charlie Ward and Greg Paulus would have won both too. But have no idea if true.

Rodney Rogers was a pretty imposing TE in football. Doubt he was the state player of the year though.

Others: AJ Green, Anthony Gonzalez, Randy Moss, Randle El, Julius Peppers.

The game sold out, probably from people being in town for football. But yeah, no one cared. I’d hate to imagine what it would be like if WE lost at home to a Big South team. Oh wait.

Yeah, only time UT leaves before 1/8 is for PNIT (if make it to semi’s), Pitt, and some school called Charlotte?

And UT lost an exhibition to a d2 school. Which is worse, UNCCTF?

I don’t know if Judy Rose plans to retire in the near future but is there a snowballs chance Lutz could ever comes back as the Athletic Director at Charlotte? I know his coaching run kind of flamed out here but I think his passion for Charlotte would make him the perfect candidate for AD.

Honestly, I think we get too many. I think if there were half as many student seats available, the spirit and pride of those that got in the door would be much higher.

Auburn did that too, haha. Not only that, but they lost to a D2 school that was picked 12th out of 13 teams in its league.

Bobby would jump all over that chance. Not until there is a new chancellor though can that take place. He would be fantastic and has every prerequisite.

Ya’ll think bball starts to early? Not enough practice time before games start.

okay you win.

I would be all for Lutz as our next AD when the time comes. He would be a great fit, IMO.

I’ve always thought when he retired from coaching he would find some place in the AD, whether its director or not I dont know.
