Campbell Announces....

Mixed emotions here. I mean I’m happy for Campbell but at the same time jealous as can be. Plus it makes me sick to my stomach that we are still undetermined if we are or aren’t getting a team. Maybe our faithful leaders can learn something from Campbell next year.

I stumbled upon this site - there is a IAA playoff system. A 16 team bracket (TAKE THAT, BCS!) I noticed the A-10 gets an automatic bid, too.

Non-scholarship leagues do not get a bid to the I-AA playoffs. There are partial-scholarship leagues that have been fighting for berths in the playoffs for years to no avail.

Considering the struggle that the Athletic Foundation has every year to continually raise $1 million + for current scholarships, the $1-2 million route is a very tough sell, even with some revenues coming back in.

If Campbell is just announcing now for 2008, who the heck is going to be playing them? Teams set schedules years in advance. Ok the big boys do, but I imagine nearly 100% of teams had 2008 schedules set already.

Had their first ever Orange-Black game yesterday: http://www.gocamels.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=65455&SPID=7313&DB_OEM_ID=15300&ATCLID=1443933

I actually went right through their campus yesterday and wondered what was going on…lots of traffic control folks cleaning up after the big event in Buies Creek.
