Can anyone recommend a kennel?

Does anyone know of a dog kennel that they would recommend? My wife and I have two dogs that we adopted and need to board them for a couple days while we are out of town. We live in the University area, but we are open to other areas.

There is an extremely nice one in Cornelius. Camp Wagging Tails.

That Chinese restaurant on N. Tryon also does pet boarding…

That is very politically incorrect, insensitive and stereotypical… and I think it is very funny!

lol…That was a good one. Almost drew Kook Aid out my nose.

Certainly not the cheapest, nor near you, but the only place I trust when I can’t get a friend/coworker to watch my dogs. Great facility, great staff and great reputation.

There’s also a place on S. Tryon called “Carolina Doggie Playland” where your dog gets to stay in a big room with beds/other dogs. Not the cleanest place I’ve seen but I know people who use it with no complaints at all. Cool place to let your dog stay during the day and you can even watch them on live webcams. But they offer overnight boarding as well. I’ve met most of the staff and they’re really good people who care about dogs.

Edit: Continental gives a nice discount if you board two dogs at the same time. I think the 2nd dog is 50% off or something like that.

I take both of my dogs to Long Animal Hospital off of South Blvd. I’ve never experienced any problems from them during visits. I have not used the kennel services, but during all my visits, 1/2 the people there are dropping/receiving their dogs from the kennel.

You can’t do wrong with this place:

Meadows Bed & Biscuit at Lake Norman
15020 Brown Mill Rd, Huntersville
NC, 28078

Your dogs will need to be up to date on their kennel-cough nose spray which your vet can give them real quick and fax the confirmation to the kennel. Our dog has always had a ball at this place and never came home ill.

I would not recommend the Carolina Doggie Playland that jcl mentioned because our dog and my father-in-law’s dog both got sick after being there a few days.

This place is right near Mac’s. I eat there a lot, and every time I’m there, I hear dogs barking and howling. Not the ideal situation for a skittish dog, that’s for sure. It would end up pissing all over itself. As for the facilities, it looks like just standard cages. There certainly can’t be a large excercise area for them, which I think is pretty important when boarding a dog for extended periods.
