This is horrible:
The medical school issue — I think it’s been adequately vetted. I still think at least a study ought to be done versus what I proposed, but I didn’t carry the day. I argued that we ought to have the first two years of medical education taught here collaboratively with Chapel Hill and then move to the third and fourth years over at Carolinas Medical Center. The proposal now is to do something that enlarges the medical classes at Chapel Hill and (ECU) and does some collaboration in Asheville. I’m not spending any time on that right now. I don’t think there’s a chance that’s going to be funded.

Horrible yes, but I’m glad about the bolded part.

I suppose so but we need to be prepared for the next round when the economy turns around. Chapel Hill is NOT abandoning this plan and the first time someone here sneezes “Medical School” under their breathe Chapel Hill’s going to try to jump back in front of the line. I hope Dubois is throwing up smoke when he says he’s not working on it. We can’t just have a better plan; we have to have a plan that makes Chapel Hill’s look like it was written in crayon.
