I am managing a canned food drive this year called “Chancellor for a Day”. How this works is for every 5 cans you donate you will receive a raffle ticket. At the end of the contest we will draw from the raffle tickets and the top three get to take their pick to shadow Chancellor Dubois, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Arthur Jackson or Coach Alan Major.
The contest is slated to start on November 8th with collection sites being at the Belk Tower and Student Union from from 11am-2pm on Monday through Thursdays for that week and the following one. You can also donate cans at the Alumni house starting on the 8th.
We will have two tables set up at the Queens exhibition game on November 2nd and the SC State game on November 13th. Students will receive an extra loyalty point while general admission receives a $5 voucher for a future game with the donation of five cans.
All proceeds go towards Second Harvest Food Bank and our goal is 4,900 pounds of food collected.
WHY would anyone want to spend more than 5 minutes with Dubois? I guess if you have had trouble sleeping lately then you could hang out with him for a few hours and get finally get your shut eye due to all the excitement.
Following Major would be OK for a day. I am very very surprised he agreed to it.
Shadowing Lutz for a day–on game day–usually cost $1500-2000 at the auction every year. To think that you could go drop a couple of hundred bucks at Aldi and get a truck load of cans, then deduct the cost from your taxes, and stand a good chance of winning seems like a decent deal.
