Same with an airport. Idiotic.

I want to agree with that common sense, but there are a couple of situations where someone might (emphasis on might, not definitely) have a gripe is when, for instance, an airport suddenly starts routing flights in from a different direction or tremendously increasing traffic. I guess the race track version is hosting races on weeknights instead of just weekends…

It’s not the best argument but at least it wouldn’t seem as ridiculous.

I lived close to CMS for a long time. It’s not that bad anyway.

also my understanding is that the area around the track has been zoned for racing for a long time.

not sure if that’s the case on all race tracks but it’s likely.

so yes agree. Don’t move there if it’s a problem for you.

Not aware anyone was trying to get CMS shut down. This is more about a politician making "brownie points’ and getting his name in the news

Shuffletown Dragstrip is a perfect example if this. Strip had been there for years. People moved close to the track then got it shut down. Was so much fun going there.

Never attended any events at Shuffletown but did at Metrolina Fairgrounds and other area short tracks. Had a neighbor who was a “weekend warrior” and then later one of my nephew’s raced Legends as a teen. Still remember the time at Atlanta Speedway when a post race “inspection” resulted in his disqualification and, of course, awarded the win to the local star instead. Stock car racing - good ol’ boy shenanigans at even the lowest level!

Why? For what purpose? Why no indoor practice facility?

From Bruno’s thread:

TSE and the city of Charlotte believe this venue is something Charlotte is lacking. The city says there is a void in indoor venues in the 2500-8500 range.

Filmore- 1800ish
Ovens- 2500
Bojangles- 8500

Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre (outdoor) has capacity of about 5000.

And from the WCNC piece:

Tepper Sports & Entertainment is proposing plans to build a 4,400-seat indoor venue next to Bank of America Stadium, a privately funded project that would bring an estimated 80 to 100 shows annually to uptown Charlotte, according to city of Charlotte documents.

clt says bring concerts back to haltron!

Is there anything different from when this was initially reported in June? :airplane:

Not sure I saw this earlier. Cool! :flight_departure: :stadium: :+1:

JetZero plans to have this demonstrator plane complete and approved by the FAA for a flyover at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

That is very ambitious. More competition for the Airbus and Boeing duopoly the better.
