Wow! Athens! Just in time to see the wildfires up close and personal. Stay safe, yāall.
How long before the city buys Northlake Mall?
Unrelated to the O-Line purchase but found this firing to be interesting - especially since an activist investor group tried unsuccessfully to oust Shaw earlier this year.
News re: former Charlotte Pipe and Foundry site:
I really thought weād be getting a new indoor Panthers stadium there. How stupid it was to think that would happen.
Tepper would have needed a free billion to make that happen.
Hahaha.
Tightwad.
clt asks where is our bubble?
If the City wants to keep is teams downtown, it needs to plan and make preparations. The land is going away quickly. The City of Philadelphia has a sports complex that houses all of their pro sports teams. Parking surrounds the arenas and stadiums. When a new venue is needed, they build on a parking surface right beside the stadium being torn down. The old stadium is torn down and the land is turned into parking. This is how you preserve the land to insure that your stadiums and arenas will always have a place. But this requires planning. In addition, Charlotte officials, if they assembled the land now, would have to forego property taxes until the venues were built on the property. I guess they are not willing to give up a dollar. But they are playing with fire. If no land is available downtown in 20 years, what happens then?
